Not bothered if we sign him or not

I don't mind him, but don't see it as a particularly great signing. Whilst I'm not bothered if we don't sign him, I will be bothered if we don't sign anybody else instead. Hope we haven't put all of our eggs in one basket.

Signing based on what may be and not what currently is. But frankly that is the market in which we operate. We do not sign players in their prime and probably could not even if we tried.

BBC reporting that Oxlade chamberlain has rejected Chelsea which might make them consider Barkley more (though I hope their Barkley alternative is Drinkwater and Oxlade was a Moses rotation).

Really hope this gets done, injured or not, clear Poch wants him and he's been available all summer.

Fingers crossed

If he's happy to join Chelsea and sit on the bench then I'm not concerned about him joining them.

He should be hungry for first team football.

Oxlade-Chamberlain rejected Chelsea because he didn't want to play at RWB apparently. Telegraph have been saying for weeks that they want both Drinkwater and Barkley.

Some of you may not care if he signs for chelsea, but what about Pochettino?

Everyone's been saying he's our number 1 target this window. He's been up for grabs for almost 3 months. If we fail, Poch will not be happy

I believe Hercules has said it all comes down to his fitness, or some paraphrase as such. I think Poch is smart enough to know if he is injured for a long period, wasting money now may not be worth it. have a hard time believing we would dole out big pounds on an injured player that may or not play the first half of the season, and that our manager would throw a hissy fit because we didn't.

If it is true that Barkley is out for 3 months there is no way as a pure business decision you would sign him. Why pay a transfer fee of £30m and wages of £1.5m when he will not be playing until December and his value in the January transfer window will be greatly reduced to around £10m.You would have effectively wasted £20m+ for nothing. Levy is a business man he isn"t going to do that.
It all hinges around the true extent of his injury.

Sod the Business-bull. He's the one Poch wants - bring him in.

Hmmm maybe, just maybe we have an agreement to buy in January at a set price, due to his injury. Otherwise I'd have though Chelsea's bid of £25mill for a player out until Xmas would have been acccepted?

I'd rather we sign nobody than lump ourselves with a turd panic buy like last year.

I dont think I would like to be working for a company where you are making the financial decisions!!!!

What is curious in this case is if the injury is as bad as suspected why are Everton holding out for such a large fee when everything is against them. For this deal to happen there has got to be a serious compromise from them.

I don't get this injury situation...
Surely if he's not as seriously injuried as claimed by a few articles Everton would want to get that known to boost the price?
If he indeed is seriously injuried why would they turn down £25 mill?

Excellent another duck gone :).

Well done Daniel boy!
How can you blame Levy for this one? Everton have wanted too much all Summer, then he was injured. All ITK from day one said it will go to the last day.

Unless you know otherwise, at this moment in time he has not signed for anyone else. Let's wait and see. If he does not sign for Tottenham Hotspur tomorrow, then we can blame Levy.
