You will be happily disappointed then :p

Your positivity is really keeping us going Hercules. Thanks for your updates!

Good job you don't do twitter. I just went on there and the wider Spurs fan base really does leave a lot to be desired at times. The last week of the transfer window being one of those times.

Loving Hercules' optimism and glad it's spreading to others in the forum.

I just personally cannot see how we've got things 'done' at this stage without them being announced yet.

I understand the Aurier delay, but other than that, if we're not hearing much, in most previous windows that has meant not much is actually happening.

Not criticising Hercules' info btw as I'm sure it's what he's being told. As I've said elsewhere though...we've had this optimism before so I'm going to continue sitting in my pessimist hat for a while yet.

FFS.

I think we'd be better off just pumping our money into a pacey forward option.

Fuck an alternative to Barkley, I cant think of a genuine one.

Couldnt make this shit up though.

I understand why we leave it late but there is no doubt it affects effective planning.

It's like a high stakes poker game. Except we keep going all in on a pair of 8's and hope that everyone hasn't called our bluff.

Agree completely.
Looks like Foyth and maybe Aurier

The rest is the official word from the club. Positive and calm. 2 days to go, but we're positive and calm

Fair play TSH and I agree with you. Nerves were rock solid until very recently. Now I'm a little worried as people are behaving weirdly. Might I add, it's supposed to go on the other end unless that's an English thing and it hasn't filtered down to us uncouth Americans.

as much as I like Winks he is not the imposing physical figure that Dembele or potentially Barkley would be
He doesn't need to be, he's shown he has Dembeles ability to shield and retain the ball, but also has a fantasy passing ability, to dictate play heading into the final third, Modric and Kris don't need to be physically imposing because they have other abilities and Casimero mopping up behind them, the way we have Wanyama/Dier.

Perhaps it would be a good time to remind some people of the good work and limitations of insider information. It's great to share the signs and clues of which players the club is pursuing. But ultimately, such sources are not in the room when the final details are being thrashed out so it's quite possible that the best laid plans do not come to fruition. There is a lot of 'previous' on this; I recall the Martin Petrov and Damien Duff deals that never happened.

So all we can do is express gratitude for the info, hope for the best but not be too disappointed should events not pan out as we would wish.

All that said I'd feel more confident all round if two of our main targets were not an invalid and a jailbird.
