It's sad how it's gone. He was fantastic with Berb's. He was unlucky to get caught in a power struggle between the Fat Spanish Waiter and the American's, his ego took a knock and he never got the groove back at Spurs. All that nonsense he came out with when he resigned about Spurs being a spiritual home even his face was red saying it, then going to Celtic saying it was his boyhood club...

The way he celebrated after the League Cup final I thought he'd try tear up the champions league or force his way back in to a regular position.

I just don't understand how someone can go from 15-20 league goals a season consistently to never look like scoring the next. Is he on the Mutu stuff? :D

A clearly confidence or lack of

Went to liverpool thinking he could be just as effected and loved as he was at Spurs, but it blew up in his face and sadly came back with his tail between his legs back to us as a wounded animal.

I think his belief has gone, he stills play like Keano just not a 100% (if you get my drift) sadly it's just glispes of class every now and then.

He's not finished yet, he hasn't had a run in the team with a decent creative "target" man ala Berbatov, but he's probably realises (as is Harry) that the love affair has come to an end.

He'll never be forgotten but something has to happen for him to be great, not good, great again.

That could mean a move away from WHL or not. Only time will tell

I don't understand all this love for Carroll. If you think we resort to shit football when Crouch is on the pitch then it won't be any better if we got Carroll.

It's not because Crouch is tall that we play shit, but because he isn't much of anything else.

I don't know much about Carroll so can't speak for him, but we do need a target man, one who can run fast, shoot or head at goal well, will run the channels, turn and face when receiving the ball. Someone with a bit of power and dynamism. But preferably tall and hard working like Crouch too.

Don't get me wrong, i'd love Llorente, Lukaku or a Dzeko but we're not going to get them, especially in Jan. If we continue to play the way we have been playing so far this season we need more than Crouch up top. Carroll is the best option available IMO. Harry may know something we don't, but looking at it logically, Carroll is the type of player we need and he is the one we have most chance of buying.

Long live Keano! (the player, not the member).

I think he probably would do pretty well if we played him with 3MP up front until JD is back, he just needs some games to find his old form again, Harry should try it at least. Maybe he won't score, but at least he gains some match practice, and maybe someone knocks on Harry's door with- let's say- 3 millon in his hand wanting to buy Keano, or at least paying it so that he never has to see him in a Spurs shirt again, wheter he plays well or not.

I really really wanted us to get a decent tallish centre forward during the summer, someone with decent movement and intelligence, as this would have got the best out of Keano and he would have notched them up a level with his intelligent play too.

However, having signed van der Vaart, it is really tough to squeeze them both in without unbalancing the team.

A big problem that Keane has had since coming back is, in addition to his confidence being shot, is that he has had some real, lacking, strike partners.

He needs someone to feed off of, to share his intelligence and movement with.

Crouch is technically not good enough and makes for a frustrating partner for Keane.

In fact, Defoe aside, I can't really

Keane hasn't really been given many chances up front with Pav, although Pav is not really in the class of Mido / Kanoute / Berbatov in terms of his link-up play.

Defoe probably isn't that ideal for him either, they're pretty hot and cold together. They have played well occassionally, but often don't really work.

Defoe could potentially link very well with van der Vaart though.

Saying all this I'd really really love it if we signed a striker who Keano could bond with and have a top-notch strike partnership but I think Redknapp is going the way of 4-5-1 now, van der Vaart in the middle and Lennon / Bale on the wings providing width and balance.

There isn't really space for Keano in that system, unless he can re-invent himself as a lone centre forward. Which would be nice, but I don't think he would be given the run of games to accustom to it and see if he can.

i can't see keane thriving as the lone striker in any system. even keane of 2007-08 or whenever you like

Keane can not be trusted to keep himself fit. Some players, just simply have to play week in week out to remain sharp. Another victim of having a massive convoluted squad.

Bentley was only on fire before he joined us because he played every game at his old club. At Liverpool he spent a lot of time in the bench. Both players are classic examples of needing games to shine.

I agree. He even plays poorly for Ireland now too!!

Regarding the Liverpool/Irish thing, Rooney was eligible to play for Ireland.

who isn't? we make sure we can take any footballer that flirtatiously bats their lashes towards us

In my opinion Benitez ruined our Robbie. The ****!

At this stage I see no way back for him at Spurs. All good things come to an end I guess.

*wags finger*
i was on a tour at the lane a few weeks back and got the obligitory (sp?) keaneo shirt picture, heard a mutter from a group of lads that keane is the worst player they have ever seen in a spurs shirt

it was at that point it was confirmed to me that spurs fans are idiots

Strange, since settling down usually helps footballers, but it all seems to have gone wrong since he got married in June 2008.

We know he said he'd fallen 'out of love' with football. Maybe now with the chances of appearing in a world cup close to zero and realising the only way is down he's decided there's more to life and he'll sit and take the huge pay packet

He never should've been bought back, he thought he left us for better things when he went to Liverpool. We bought back a shadow if the player who left us. Buying back Defoe was different, when he left, his career was going nowhere, he went to Portsmouth and came back to Spurs a better, stronger player.
