Lloris.........7......Who? Captain Invisible.
Walker.......8......Maintaining his good run, on several occasions. Nice assist. Strong
Dier...........7......Solid and sound.
Toby...........8......Sound and solid
Verts..........8......Get well soon. Positive again today.
Rose..........8......From fall guy to legend in several easy stages.Quick
Wanya........8+...Continues to confound my original assessment. I'm pleased to say.Hulk
Dembele.....8.....That's the Moussa we bought all those years ago.
Eriksen.......9......When he plays well we play well. Smooth..MOM
Dele............9......Concentrating on his football now. Classy assist
Kane...........9.....My hero and adopted son. Should have got 5 so not MOM.Waster.

Lovely stuff. Might just start to dream. A team we usually find hard to beat but not today.
Like Chelsea last week they weren't on it. Neither got the chance that's why.
Pochettino! What ateamo!
Mauricio has solved the conundrum of Dier, Wanya and Dembele in the same team.

Kane will get the plaudits but could have had an absolute field day. If Alli had won the penalty which looked pretty blatant, Kane could have had 6. Good to have a match where so many put in excellent performances, but the platform for it came from the middle of the park where Dembele and Wanyama obliterated them. Dembele gets MOM from me.

I think that was the best we've played this season espically the first half. Pure joy to watch. Every player could get my vote for Motm

I think it's the best I've personally seen us play, can't think of a more impressive performance in any year.

Best first half I have seen in ages.

The pace in which we did everything was tremendous. The passing, the pressing, everything was at 100 MPH but under complete control.

Second half a bit different until we figured it out again.

Overall 10s for everyone. No major issues or blunders from anyone.

And as bus-conductor said, this was Dembele's best performance. Every facet of his game was on today and that's dangerous. The best part for me was he was more involved and his press up the pitch a couple times was amazing. I have not been shy about my issues with Moose but today he was superb.

There have been some games this season that we have filed under "you can only smash the shit put in front of you". This was very much not one of those.

West Brom are no mugs, especially this West Brom. Tactically always obdurate, they have gilded it that omnipresent Pullinessence with some added offensive spice, and this represented a tough challenge. This was not a case of them not being "at it" just as it wasn't against Chelsea.

This was all about us. Just as it was against Chelsea. This performance reminded me in some ways of Ferguson's ManU. Not just because of how well we played with the ball, but because we were so fucking outstanding without the ball, a facet of ManU's domination that sometimes went a little under the radar. It's easy getting up for the big teams, and being aggressive and tenacious against them, but ManU's success - and any great teams success - was built on the relentless way they did the dirty stuff, the off the ball stuff, even against, particularly against, the other teams too, where incentive was sometimes less obvious.

To that ends Wanyama was fucking immense. Turning into possibly the best footballing busy **** I think I have seen in a Spurs shirt in my time, maybe with the exception of that brief cameo by an ageing Davids. He wasn't alone, he was ably supported by the best Dembele performance of the season. Vertonghen was once again outstanding, he's been our best defender this season, even with Alderweireld on the pitch, of course, Alderweireld is part of that, just as Vertonghen was part of Alderwerield's performances last season. These two are just the perfect pair. Got to be close to the best pair of CB's we've had together. (Maybe Fairclough and Gough running them close).

Rose was fucking outstanding first half, and Walker took that baton and ran with it second half as the game seemed to shift from port to starboard first to second halves.

Just everywhere, we were relentless. It's Eriksen chasing down and pressing that wins the throw that leads to the first goal, and that just summed up our performance all over the pitch, everywhere, everyone was individually tenacious, collectively coherent and never gave West Brom a sniff. The way we voraciously extinguished West Brom in every area of the pitch without the ball was as beautiful as the way we dismantled them with the ball. And how we dismantled them...

I thought the 3CB and Dembele as well as Wanyama might be a recipe for stodgy chocolate fondant, but there was no stooge, this was a delicious chocolate soufflé of a performance.

There was tempo, yet composure, efficiency and élan. And here is where Eriksen was the maestro impresario. Setting up the first with a delightfully delicate through ball, he was at the hub of everything, once again popping up all over the pitch, dropping deep and interacting when the CB's and CM's needed an outlet, metronomically keeping the performance ticking, then constantly finding little pockets of oxygen in advanced areas - usually very rarified air against the double bus park of any West Brom - composed, incisive, probing. Once again he was absolutely outstanding. His quiet demeanour belying his substantial influence on this team.

This was probably Delli Alli's best performance in a Spurs shirt IMO. 48 passes, 83%, only one nutmeg attempted at the right time, and it fucking worked. It genuinely seems that Poch has got hold of him and straightened him out a little, because the last couple of games have seen a much more focused, less careless and less flippant Alli. No goals today but contributed so much more to the team dynamic than he's ever done before and gilded that performance with an impudent assist for the (first time in a long while) imperious Kane that had me whooping like love struck 16yo.

That goal was the glistening cherry on what had been a sumptuous Black Forest gateaux of a performance with the ball. Everyone contributed as much with the ball as they had without. We scored team goals and created wonderful chances that were started by footballing defenders and rounded off with individual attacking flair. We crafted wonderful chances that combined composure and incision. Our timing for once was perfect throughout. From back to front, side to side.

Another game that can be added to the list of "best" in Pochettino's oeuvre. Despite the opposition. Maybe in spite of them.

Football serves us up a plethora of imperfection, pain and downright fucking ball ache. Days like today are extremely rare. This performance was complete. Perfect.

Individual

Lloris - Not loads to do.

Walker - Excellent game, particularly second half where he was the busier, defensively good and offensively menacing, got his head up and set up Kane with a wonderful rapier like ball.

Dier - Good game.

Alderweireld - Very good game. One delicious pass swept out to Walker first half. Defensively proactive.

Vertonghen - Outstanding game until horrible injury.

Rose - Outstanding first half, seemed to be involved in everything, defensively good second half as well.

Wanyama - Like Hanibal Lector. Carnivorous but with a hint of Verdi washed down with a robust chianti.

Dembele - Best performance this year.

Eriksen - MOTM. Metronomic, incisive, productive. He was everywhere and is the elfin conductor to who's tune we dance.

Alli - Best performance this season for me. More involved, no silly shit, and a wonderful assist to cap it off.

Kane - Utterly Uber.

Showing my age here too... But smiled at your Fairclough and Gough reference. I remember that season well. Or I thought I did... Cos For some reason I had it stuck in my head that he partnered Mabbut!!! Either way, I totally agree, that when I think back over the last thirty years and consider who was some of our best defenders it sort of begins and ends with King and Gough.

But now with Tody and Jan, we have two titans back there. They are the flawless foundation on which Poch has been able to build his team. Truly wonderful to watch them... And even better (somehow), now with the three at the back.

Now, like others have said, I think it's quite clear you are jonesing for some cake. Like our players, you've earned yourself a sweet treat after the effort you put into that post/report!! Well played, sir.

Genuinely have no idea who to give MOM too.

It started with Moose who stamped his mark on the game early doors and West Brom must have felt they were never going to get a foothold in midfield.

Then Eriksen took up the mantle - using the space Moose had created to weave magic. Keep us moving, ticking. His first assist a delightful mini-reverse that set the tone.

But here comes Danny Rose - owning the left flank so completely you felt for poor Chadli having to play near him.

But now it's Kyle Walker - not content with keeping Matty Phillips in check but rampaging down the right when he could; defending well when he had to - and engaging in beautiful footballing triangles that bewildered the Brom defence and midfield.

Of course there's also Kane who not only scored a hatrick - not only could have scored 6 but for a World Class keeping dislay by Foster but even more importantly just played really really well. The ball was glued to his feet. His passing was assured. His teamplay exemplary.

And not too mention Wanyama - who just dominated. Dominated in a way that sucks the life out of opposition They have to work so hard to win the ball then this big wrecking machine comes in, takes it off them and twinkle toes out of trouble and gets Spurs on the attack again.

And probably Dele Alli's most assured and professional and grown up performance.

Think I'll go with Walker who got better when Wet Brom got better. Great display of character.

Great report . Without wishing to knit pick I think you meant Alderweireld and Vertonghen are the best combination since Mabbutt and Gough, not Fairclough and Gough.

Corrected. In my ageing brain I had convinced myself Fairclough played some games with Gough.

Never overly rated Mabbut tbh

I guess you are joking , Mabbutt and Gough were the rock on which Pleat's 87 team was built. Unfortunately we only got a year out of Gough and he went to Rangers for the next 10. Could have been a great for us. In fact Pleat's 4-5-1 was ahead of its time with the 2 Thomas full backs at times playing like Walker and Rose and of course the Allen- Kane comparison.

Back to today's match , everyone was good. I really felt Eriksen was the one most responsible for keeping our momentum going the whole match, constantly probing and prompting, but I also thought both wing backs were outstanding again . I would have to give it to Eriksen though despite Kane's goals. I do hope that if Verts is out for a while that Wimmer steps in against City and we keep the same formation. Not sure if I would really like Davies to play in the back 3 .

These are the games we need to keep winning has been the call from us mere bloggers and journos alike for most of last and this season. Today we saw that Spurs are starting to hit top form and at times today they were able to play well within themselves. Some will point to West Brom being poor but to be honest Spurs were simply sensational again today at the Lane. It's like watching the push and run of Spurs of decades again and do I mind that? Do I like that to slightly paraphrase the wonderful Graham Taylor whose minutes applause was wonderfully observed by all and correctly so for a true gent of the football world.

Kane's hat trick was superb, Alli was bristling with his burgeoning talent, Rose is getting better which is frightening to consider and the entire team were absolutely terrific. But for Ben Foster, Spurs could very easily have had 9 or 10 today.

Simply Terrific Tottenham Hotspur!!!!

Lloris - 10 One of the thousands of spectators. Had to make a couple of sweeper clearances which he did well.

Walker - 10 Attacking like an exocet missile. Another brilliant performance. Class.

Rose- 10 If he isn't already, Rose must be soon to be called World Class. Surely the best left back in Europe.

Dier - 10 Looks so much more comfortable in a back three. Didn't put a foot wrong!!!

Vertonghen - 10 we all hope the injury isn't too bad but it looked a nasty twist. Prior to that was absolutely faultless.

Alderweireld- 10 Imperious. Can he be named in the same breath as Ledley King? Yes he can. His defending and range of passing is simply outstanding.

Wanyama - 10 What he brings to this team is such solidity. His power and turn of pace is such a treat. Another great game from Victor!

Dembele - 10 It must be like trying to move a mountain. Some lovely footwork as well today and looking like the beast we have come to love.

Alli - 10 So unlucky not to get the goal his performance derived today and he went nutmeg crazy again! Sensational footballer.

Eriksen - 10 The back 3 has allowed Eriksen to have so much freedom and today he was unbelievable Jeff!! Ran the show.

Kane - 10+ What can I say. But for Foster Harry would have had 6 today with no trouble at all. Hat trick hero and new dad. He really is one of our very own.

Winks - 9 Dropped 1 point just for not playing the full game.
Son - 9 As above
Davies -9 As above

Pochettino - 10 He deserves to have his name sung out so loudly. What he is building is a Spurs for now and for the long term future. Long may he reign over us!!!

Nothing else to say. Over to you folks!!! Enjoy the weekend and as ever Come on You Spurs!!!!!

I agree that everyone played very well, but I think you got a bit excited :p

9 for Son who barely made a contribution? 10 for Lloris when the opposition didn't have a single shot on target?

Ledders and Woodgate - very few games together and both blighted by injuries but who will ever forget them together in the League Cup final against the Rent Boys.
Ledders and Judas would have been frighteningly good - probably one of the best duos in world football and home grown, but hey, best not dwell on that one!.
We were talking about Paul 'Maxie' Miller in the pub afterwards. What a butcher he was and used to go right through the back of strikers with the kitchen sink - would be straight reds all day long nowadays.
As others have said Richard Gough was a top player and to a certain extent Vertonghen reminds me of him. Fingers crossed its not serious but Jan's reaction says otherwise.

As for today MOM Dembele, (how can such a big lump like that turn on a sixpence, shift his balance and look so graceful) but what struck me was the belief in the team, and they played like men possessed. They looked really hungry and if they really believe they can achieve great things.

I agree that everyone played very well, but I think you got a bit excited :p

9 for Son who barely made a contribution? 10 for Lloris when the opposition didn't have a single shot on target?

Lloris made a very good save of Rondon even though it was offside but he wasn't to know.
