I personally hope UTD lose and stay in a dog fight with arsenal and Chelsea.

Yep, same. I couldn't give a fuck about Liverpool and City in regards to us now to be honest, I just really don't want to be dragged into that top 4 race with the 3 other teams in any way at all.

Pochettino picked the strongest team possible and that includes Kane. All this shit about him not starting come on!

Blaming Mick Dean is weak to imo we still failed to defend the corner so it a bad result annoying to because we are close to the leading pack. Still reckon they’ll be more twists and turns to play out and a draw between Lpoo n United keeps it interesting
You are deluded if you think the strongest team for this particular match was picked. Picking a fledgling like Foyth over Sanchez to deal with their physicality for one should have been a non starter. Playing Kane who was coming from a long term lay off (despite his goal) from the start was not smart either, as it broke our winning streak and team dynamics, resulting in Son, our most on form striker being curtailed. Point being playing your best players does not always mean its the strongest team for a particular match

I’m a Rose fan but to go from the quality of crossing from Verts to that today, i could cry, sort it out, he really pissed me off today. Couldn’t give any defenders or midfielders the award so by default and the fact the he cares goes to Kane.

I think Rose is great there if you're playing a high quality team and you might need to do a lot of defending or have wide players from the opposition that need to be somewhat neutralised but when we're having most of the ball and we're reliant on him for creativity and attacking input on that side, he's very poor.

I don't like to get overexcited over one good performance but I do think if we're playing with wingbacks, Vertonghen may be the better option to have, Rose can't be relied on to create anything but it's no surprise as he's been like that for years. In a back 4 I would have him present though.

I’d give Winks MOTM

Absolutely fell apart once we took him off

Lost complete control of the game and can’t remember us stringing 3 passes together once he got replaced

taking him off was truly one of the most baffling decisions i can remember . Makes me think I could be a professional football manager

No reason you can't be. 99% of the match day thread is filled people who are professional football managers that know more than our current one.

I love Foyth, I really do, but Burnley away was not a game to continue to blood him into the PL. They play with 2 shithouses up front, and it was clear as day that they would target him

It was a strange team selection and the changes got stranger. Not playing our one physical centre back against their battering ram forwards and then changing Winks for Llorente were two puzzling decisions.

Burnley were at it from the get go and we struggled with our touch and finesse in the final third.

We’ve got a great bunch of willing individuals, however, aside from a couple of them, we do struggle when an opponent sets about us with vigour. Too often the touches of Sissoko, Son, Lamela, Aurier, Rose, Moura etc, will melt under the pressure.

Lloris, Toby, Verts - all competent

Foyth - surprising that our talented ball playing CB was picked against Burnley, considering his obvious weakness is physicality. Struggled all game before being put out of his misery.

Rose - lots of effort, very little of quality with his delivery

Aurier - how he gets games really does baffle me. Our third best right back and simply cannot defend competently. How bad do Trippier and Aurier have to get before KWP gets a ten game spell to prove himself?

Winks - Functional and not his greatest game, however, taking him off meant we lost all ability to recycle possession in midfield.

Sissoko- has improved dramatically recently but today he was abysmal from the start. Lost the ball over ten times, provided no energy and ducked out of challenges for their goal. How he lasted 90 mins I have no idea.

Eriksen - flakey. His attempts at clearing the ball for the build up to their second was symptomatic of his day.

Son - nothing at all. Can’t pull rabbits out of the hat every game.

Kane - hustled and bustled and put his goal away well

Lamela, Llorente, Moura - pfft

We go again..

Deluded isnt a nice term to use... so I guess you are one that holds the idea that Harry Kane disrupted Son's flow...and to balance that off you used fledgling Foyth over mature Sanchez to cement your counter.

Anyway I still believe Pochettinho chose the strongest team possible to win the game, unfortunately we lost.

I think Poch might of been frustrated with his own selections today, and that spilled over post match.

I don't know, did he take a bit of a gamble playing Foyth over Sanchez, knowing the latter, who's been immense, would be playing Chelsea, Arsenal and Dortmund.

Must admit I was very surprised to see him not starting given how physically dominating he's been of late.

Surely there was a point in writing that post where you thought... 'actually i won't bother'

Good for you though for ploughing through.

Of course but then I remembered the blind praise for someone that costs us points by pulling out of challenges.

Yikes mate, I’ll blame it on the loss but no need to get personal over what was a very tepid comment. Aurier doing you up the backside or something?

He was god awful and continues to be time and again with the rare good game. Eriksen had an off day but is a fantastic player and Foyth gets the benefit of inexperience, hence my singling Aurier out.

i think he was trying to point out the obvious 'lets dump on the usual suspect' tone of your post. He made a good point. Aurier wasn't any worse then anyone else. Personally I thought none of our big players stepped up including Eriksen who so often flatters to decieve.

We deserved what we got out of the game.

Aurier wasn’t worse than anyone else today, but he’s been bad more often this season than anyone else.

I’ll take inconsistent players who fluctuate between brilliant and shit over someone consistently shit.

He's been making these half hearted so called challenges for years but people don't look at them because it's Eriksen and he's the messiah.
If Jesus Christ came to Tottenham
what would we do?
Move Eriksen to play off him.

Old Liverpool joke reworked.
He's our best player
and as Joni says
'You don't know what you've got
till it's gone'.

He's not a midfield 'beast
like Sissoko and Wanyama
but I know who I'd sell first.
Someone's got to do the thinking
and passing.

So you would take Aurier then, I knew you would come around! (y)

The game really showed where our weaknesses are ... full back and midfield. We need upgrades this summer to progress.
