My preference is definitely swaying towards Raphinha and a Llorente/Giroud type target man which Conte has been known to like in past squads. That way they are not just a backup but also a bonafide plan B. Someone like Scamacca or Kalajdzic would have the frame to do that, even Weghorst at a push.

I do think Richarlison has a well rounded set of abilities combined with a great competitive (shithouse) mentality however so I'd also still be very happy if we went down that route.
Yeah a salty old dog like Giroud, if he wasn't a monstrous goon/chav hybrid, would be absolutely perfect. Either that or a younger up-coming striker like the Kalajdzic.

I'd take either tbh

I do feel like this is such a prime opportunity to elevate our options hugely and to really do some very good succession planning. Frustrating when presented with these options, that we don't want to pull the trigger.

Don't know if this has been mentioned yet... But Raphinha's agent is former Barcelona and Chelsea-star Deco... could be an influence on his next destination.

Well, everything points to Barca then the rest. I think Chelsea want Sterling for the same position

Arsenal fans made a long video of Raphinha on the left. I still think he would be brilliant on that side.

Think he would cover an injury to Son or Kulusevski very well, and could rotate with either. On top of that if Kane were injured Son could probably work upfront. We saw Conte play Hazard up top several times when Costa was injured for his Chelsea team.

I agree with everyone though that a number 9 should be signed in addition to Raphinha if we sell Bergwijn as expected.

Really hope we go for Raphinha as I think he’s got several levels to go up with better players around him, I.e passing to Kane/Son not Roberts/Rodrigo. Whereas Richarlison I think suits the talisman role of Everton more, which he wouldn’t get with us. Just my opinion that Raphinha would be top class for us, and Richarlison would be effective cover.

I was all for Richarlison until I learned of the fucking stupid money Everton want for him. He’s worth a punt around the 40-45 mil mark at the most, similar to the Jota fee. Anything more than that is stupid. Raphinha is a different level to Richarlison and I’d be happier if we’re talking 50-60 mil if we were to drop that money on him. We’ll see what happens, I know Raphinha doesn’t cover multiple positions but if we spend 60 mil on Richarlison I really won’t be very sure he’ll prove to be worth it at all

No because Son scores loads of goals and Moura barely scores, so it's a huge drop off in quality which will cost us games.
Oh I totally get that, my question was rather if he could operate from the left if necessary

I totally agree that raphinha is a better player than Richarlison.

However, if I compare the two players, it comes to versatility for me.

I am not completely sure how versatile raphinha is, but if he comes to us over Richarlison, I will be ecstatic.

I will also be very happy with Richarlison as well.

I have just read the Ornstein article on the Athletic stating that Arsenal put in a low ball bid. One thing he usually does is respond to people in the comments, especially if they are calling him out or questioning his info. Loads of people are asking what Arsenal bid and he hasn't responded to anyone. It's a bit different for him. I suppose he could be off work today or something but he usually responds. It really makes me wonder if there was any bid at all, especially as he is the only one saying it happened.

Their Leeds correspondent Phil Hay seemed to corroborate the info in respect of a bid so I think it's legit.

I’m just a bit concerned that Richarlison isn’t worth the numbers being bandied around. Totally understand the appeal for his versatility but if you’re spending 60 mil that player needs to be top class or have top class potential. I think Raphinha would be top class for us, especially around better players, my feeling about Richarlison is far less certain tbh. I think he’s a good player and useful for his versatility but I don’t see the same star quality or potential

Arsenal are really going hard, thinking they have already got him.

They are even sharing videos of Saka on the left to show they can play together. Including a video of him against City, talking about his performance as being truly outstanding in a game where he got 0 goals, 0 assists, compared to our front 3 who all scored or assisted at least once, including Kulu who scored and assisted.

Oh ok. I hadn't seen that. No info on the amount though. Fun and games I think.

I do wnder how high Arsenal can or are willing to go. They're currently trying to finance two pretty big deals at the same time. I am really surprised that they still haven't got Jesus over the line as well.

Of course if we were to sign him he'd be overrated and they didn't need him anyway.

Honestly, I think Jesus agent is trying to get a champs league option where he will start. Arsenal clearly arent his top choice or he would have signed by now. As per what @Hercules said, its Jesus agent offering him to clubs like us rather than the other way around. That to me reads that his last choice is Arsenal.
