After the game on saturday I had a ceremony in my garden. The idea was to drive out Spurs from my soul and finially be free to live a peaceful life.

Out of no where a character appeared in the flames of the fire. He looked at the me and said: Don’t let Spurs out just yet! I’ll take your pessimism. You’ll owe me one sometime in the future...

I accepted the offer and the bloke vanished into the flames.

I will forever be grateful to the guy in the flames. He saved my life that night. He saved my love for the game and for the Club.

You’ll know him by the name of @freeeki

Honestly, if you feel even remotely like those scenarios will happen, put money on it. At 200/1, you'll be minted.

I haven’t said it WILL happen, I’ve said it’s perfectly plausible that it CAN happen.

Where the rest of you get your confidence from I really have no clue. The way we’ve played over the past three months has been some of the worst football I have ever seen from us. We look knackered, dejected and bereft of ideas.

Arsenal are also shite, but that time they went above us for a few hours was the highlight of their players’ season so far, tragic as it is.

As I said earlier, if we go in at half time 2-0 down (very plausible), and they go in 2-0 up (also plausible), they only need the second half to mirror the first and 4th place is theirs. They’ll be well up for it if that’s the case, finishing above us has become their new cup final.

I don’t understand how anyone who’s witnessed the utter dross of our last three months can be so confident we’ll make it through based on Arsenal being shite.

Referencing Newcastle 5-1 and thinking we're gonna throw it away based on that and other 'Spursy' events is just stupid, utterly dumb posts with no logical thinking behind them.

Not really, as saying everton have nothing to play for and will be easy is just stupid, utterly dumb posts with no logical thinking behind them. I only mentioned Newcastle to show teams with nothing to play for aren't a walk over and have a point.

So Burnley who have nothing to play for can beat Arsenal as well, works both ways.

I think the general point is that all results and all scorelines are possible, that’s sort of how this football thing works.

Yeah capt obvious over here, we could lose 10-0 or we could win 10-0 so what...this is the very definition of a pointless subject, absolutely pointless.

Yep. We look knackered, dejected and bereft of ideas. But still defensively competent. We've lost 4 of our last 5 games. Conceded only 4 goals. One of those was away to the highest scorers in the league who were out for revenge and another was when we played with 9 men for half of the match.

We aren't losing by 3 goals to Everton with Arsenal winning by 5 against Dyche's shithouse Burnley team. Neither of those situations will happen, nevermind both.

And I'm generally a pessimist too.

You’re right, we could.

Or, we could lose 5-1, and Arsenal could win 4-0.

Not quite so unrealistic when you stop yelling childish nonsense like “10-0” thinking it makes the possibility less likely.

I think people understand your point of view, it's just the likelihood of it happening that people are arguing against.

As I mentioned before, you're making it seem as if it's 50/50, where in reality it's more 0.001/99.999.

I’m generally an optimist but this club has done me in this season.

Everton demolished Manchester United a couple of weeks ago, they are a very real attacking threat.

Burnley have the third highest tally of goals conceded in the league, they are capable of shipping a fair few, even to Arsenal.

My point is, this is NOT over. I’m not saying it WILL happen, I’m saying it plausibly CAN happen.

I don’t know whether it’s optimism or blind denial that’s convinced you all that it’s DEFINITELY NOT POSSIBLE at this stage, but here we are.

Please lets stop all this negative bollocks about us losing by a shitload and fucking 4th up.
Negativity from the fans spreads to the players.
We must win on sunday to GET 3rd!! thats our aim not worrying about 4th ffs.

Yeah I’m sure the reason we’ve been dogshit for most of the year is because people on here have said we’ve been dogshit for most of the year and it’s rubbed off on the players.

If anything the hopeless optimism from this place should’ve guided us to the league title by now.

Boring me now, if you're gonna attempt the one-upmanship, don't bother replying, cheers (y)

You didn’t give me much to respond to, given that your response to a well-reasoned point was to start barking about doomsday predictions and baseless accusations of self-pity. Cheers.

Right just to put a few things to bed. We have made top four, Arsenal can't score two goals against Burnley let alone more and Everton won't score more than two goals against us if they score at all. The Arsenal penalty wasn't a penalty and the Brighton one was Xhaka tripped him up and finally I'd like to win against Everton but whatever happens I'm going to have a party on Sunday and you are all welcome to join me.
As I've been saying all season,

WE GOT THIS.
