Last match of the season in the league and playing in our brand new stadium - against a team with nothing to play for.

I will be disappointed with anything less than 3 points.

I still remember Newcastle a few season ago....

To be honest, if it had come down to having to beat Everton, Moshiri their owner fucking hates Kroenke and I wouldn't have been surprised if they'd rolled over for us to stiff him.

I'll take loss vs. Everton I don't even care if it means this season is over and top 4 is finalised. Luckily the legends over at the Library are even worse than we are.

If arsenal get through to the EL final I doubt they'll put much effort into the Burnley game.
Yeah. Hence whilst I want them to ultimately lose the EL, I think them getting to the final would mean they wouldn't even care about the Burnley match.

I’m not sure which bit you doubt.

Everton are far far better than Brighton, Bournemouth and West Ham. Sigurdsson and Richarlison CAN put three past us.

Lacazette and Aubameyang CAN put five past a dreary Burnley side with nothing to play for.

After the unbelievable shit show of the past three months I thought we’d all be past naive optimism.
Oh, come on, mate.

Burnley have conceded 1 goal or less at home 10 times this season.

Arsenal have scored 3 goals or more away from home twice this season, against Fulham and Cardiff.

Spurs have conceded 1 goal or less in 16 out of 18 home games this season.

Everton have scored 3 or more goals away from home twice this season.

But suddenly Burnley are going to concede 5, Arsenal are going to score 5, Spurs are going to concede 3 and Everton are going to score 3.

And this "side with nothing to play for" line that people keep coming out with is utter bollocks. They're professional athletes with a professional manager against one of the world's biggest clubs. They'll give it everything. Just look at the effort Huddersfield put in yesterday, despite being a God awful football team.

Honestly, if you feel even remotely like those scenarios will happen, put money on it. At 200/1, you'll be minted.

Some people need to chill out.

We've got a semi final on Wednesday.

Referencing Newcastle 5-1 and thinking we're gonna throw it away based on that and other 'Spursy' events is just stupid, utterly dumb posts with no logical thinking behind them.

The teams below City and Liverpool have been atrocious since early March, really strange end to the season.
Could be WC fatigue, and having to play European ties too.

It's been a long season and I'll be glad to see the back of it tbh.

Which is exactly why I don't buy into the whole "nothing to play for" excuse, in the PL a single position is worth £2 Million.

Imagine how much that means to the smaller clubs. These days it's not only about European football and avoiding the drop, it is about the financial implications of each position too.

£3mil per position.

The club finishing in fifth will receive £30m less than the fourth-placed club, mostly due to the lower expected revenue from the Europa League.

Prize money drops off slowly from 8th to 17th place at a rate of £3m per place: the team that finishes 8th receives £25m more than the team that finishes 17th.

Everton can't finish higher than 8th and lower than 9th unless like us they have a mad goal difference swing of 12 goals.

Thanks to Arsenal result I'm really going to enjoy second tie with Ajax even if we won't make it to the final. I think I can finally fully appreciate what we have achieved in the CL this season without worring about league position. Hopefully players can feel the same. Without this pressure it should be so much easier.

Indeed. Quoting a result from 3 years ago against a team that's nothing to do with the upcoming PL fixture, but conveniently forgetting (disregarding?) the 6-2 pummeling we gave our upcoming opponents just 5 months ago in their own back yard.

Can't fucking wait for posts when Leicester beat Chelsea & our home victory sees us finishing 3rd.

It is this, but there is also general quality throughout the league. The money involved in top flight footie means that at least 12 teams can afford quality player(s). Adding to the money available, also every team can only have so many players. Which means that if number of quality players is way higher than the best squads have room for, stands to reason that clubs further down the pecking order gains access to that quality.

So I’m very much between feeling great because we’ve secured too for and then feeling like we could still contrive to throw it away, the way the season has gone! Hopefully Burnley are their resilient selves and hopefully we don’t turn up thinking we can just stroll through the game, just to make sure!

My view is that we might as well celebrate finishing in the top 4, because if we blow it from here I doubt the club would have any supporters left to care.

It has been incredibly challenging for Tottenham.

There has been a lot of steel shown by some players this season.

Time for the upper echelons to build on that.

After the game on saturday I had a ceremony in my garden. The idea was to drive out Spurs from my soul and finially be free to live a peaceful life.

Out of no where a character appeared in the flames of the fire. He looked at the me and said: Don’t let Spurs out just yet! I’ll take your pessimism. You’ll owe me one sometime in the future...

I accepted the offer and the bloke vanished into the flames.

I will forever be grateful to the guy in the flames. He saved my life that night. He saved my love for the game and for the Club.

You’ll know him by the name of @freeeki

If those fuckers beat us to 4th place everyone owes me a drink. You first. At least I’ll be drunk enough to forget it happened. :shifty::shifty::shifty:
