Chelsea fans were singing "Tottenham Hotspur, its happened again" .. Can someone enlighten me as to what the reason for this was? unless they are celebrating our CL qualification consistency? im bafffled as to what else they could be referring to

Chelsea and Arsenal both have tougher games than us. Everton are great at home but very beatable on the road. I would not be surprised to see us finish 3rd. Chelsea are qualified now so will not be all that motivated and Leicester will want to win their last home game. Arsenal have been shocking on the road so I can't see them beating a stubborn Burnley.

We should really go into the game thinking about going for 3rd rather than looking over our shoulder now.

but we can look over our shoulder and wave now(y)

So..... turned out alright again.

We fucked up but everyone else around us fucked up too. Does this mean the 4 clubs including us have just been found out as the season went on.... or does it mean the other clubs below are catching up in terms of fight and quality?

It’s been a bit of a train wreck in the league since January but we have to remember the positives because, believe it or not, there have been plenty. We have finished top 4 in spite of several things.....

1. The reason we were still able to finish in the top 4 despite relegation form since January, is because we were fucking brilliant for 4 months before that.

2. We have had more injuries to our top players than any other club and our players were the worst affected post-World Cup due to England and Belgium (and France) making the last 4. Kane has missed about 3 months, Son went away to 2 different tournaments, Dele, Eriksen, Lamela have all been out injured for months in total. Winks, Aurier, Vertonghen, Wanyama, Dier... all individually have missed more than a month or 2 at the very least! Often at the same time. And we still managed top 4.

3. We haven’t bought anyone for 2 windows. The squad are knackered. Injury free and we’d have been fine, but the World Cup effect has seen to that. Yet we still managed top 4.

4. Speculation surrounding Poch re Man U and Madrid. Since we played Utd and Martin Tyler & Gary Neville mentioned 473 times during the match how this could be a dress rehearsal for Poch, we’ve coincidentally gone on a shitarse run. Not necessarily saying that’s to blame, but no doubt it had some sort of affect on the club at the time. Yet we still managed top 4.

5. The stadium. We played almost all season at Wembley and still managed to finish top 4.

6. Sissoko has turned from a laughing stock to our player of the year.

7. We are in the semi finals of the CL for the first time in 57 years.

8. We continue to punch above our weight and have qualified for the CL yet again for the 4th or 5th year in a row, despite limited spending and wages compared to other clubs.

So yes, we’ve been so berry berry poor this calendar year but the teams we’ve fucked up against, have also beaten the teams around us. They aren’t pushovers. A couple of examples are - We lost to Burnley recently but they drew at Chelsea away. We beat Everton 2-6 but they beat Utd, Chelsea and Arsenal 3 home games in a row! We won and lost against Wolves but they’ve beaten almost every top side. It’s just a weird and tough league.

All in all, we’ve done brilliantly to qualify again. We needed luck this year and received it in the form of other clubs fucking up because as most of my points above suggest, we haven’t had much luck within our own club. I don’t care that we’ve been off, how many times throughout the years have we deserved something only to be fucked over by shitty refereeing decisions etc.

Now we need to push on and buy big. If we do that, I can see good things happening. Can’t believe we’ve fucking qualified after the last few games, I fucking love it!!

In hindsight, the 1-0 loss against United did us a huge favour. We can look back on it with CL and a far superior manager. We would all be bricking it if United hadn't gone on that great run and signed Ole up.

Kempus, I'm sorry but I'm having a comprehension fail with your post. Could you please explain?

Burnley have conceded 65 goals in the league this season, the third highest total in the division.

To suggest conceding 5 is somehow beyond them because they only conceded one to Manchester City is patently absurd.

I get why you're worried, but did you not see the gooner players after the result today? Absolutely dejected, they knew they aren't finishing top 4 and if they go through on Thursday there's no way they are putting in maximum effort against Burnley, even if they got knocked out I wouldn't be surprised to see Burnley win by 2 or 3.

Reading it back, it is a bit confusing. I was trying to say that United beating us was a massive victory for them and probabaly a fair part of why they jumped at signing Ole. If they hadn't gone on that run, they likely wouldn't have signed Ole. Meaning they would be going full guns blazing at Poch. But, now we have CL and they don't. We also have Poch and they don't. So, in the grand scheme, it was a good loss for us.

Was out driving with wife and kids when my brother rang me up with the result. Almost lost control of the car, screamed so hard my kids woke up in the back and the wife was fuming! What a day!! Can’t believe it!! From the lows of yesterday til the highs of today - madness! Love this club!

This top 4 race has been brutal and the last couple of weeks in particular have been the worst I can remember.

So glad I’ll be able to enjoy the 2nd leg of the CL SEMI FINAL now!

UP THE SPURS!!
Alright, who are you and what have you done with our thePessimist?

I thought I’d watch a bit of AFTV and it’s revealing how most of them hate their own players. How they should all F off and get out of the club. Our fans may criticise a few of our players consistently - Trippier, Dier and Llorente come to mind - but with them it’s more a question of which ones they don’t abuse. Even their 2 strikers are being blasted for showboating and not showing up. The difference is that there is a bond between our fans and the players, most of us recognizing that our problems are caused by our squad depth being inadequate . There is zero such connection with the goons.

I put a naughty Acca down on all three teams to lose (Chelsea, Arsenal and United) at 600/1, after we lost our game on Saturday.

I lost the Acca but I had a hand in them dropping points. Where can I pick up my fan of the season award? :ROFLMAO:
