Dude, there was nothing riding on that... the title was long gone, and not really fussed with finishing second or third... (at the time anyways).

We are a much more mature team now...

Relax we got this.. change the title.
I admire your optimism but I guarantee the "Race for the Title" thread back then was jam packed with people laughing at Arsenal and saying how we'd already got 2nd in the bag.

When we were 10-odd points ahead earlier in the season loads of people were saying there was NO chance whatsoever we'd get pegged back by Arsenal and Chelsea (least of all Utd) yet look where we are now.

Spurs have broken me too many times for me to ever get complacent again.

I dont like them personally, Dyche irritates me as he goes on about divers but I don't see what his team were doing tonight as better than diving, infact it's worse to be faking injuries like that, he talks about them playing with an honesty, he's a massive hypocrite, I appreciate where you're coming from but they don't have to go down that route.
I agree that they take it to extremes (although the worst I've personally seen for time wasting was Schmeichel for Leicester) but the likes of Burnley (and Fulham, Cardiff, Huddersfield etc.) can't realistically go toe to toe with teams like this so what do they do - roll over and take a whopping or try something different? I think all of them attempt to play a somewhat more expansive game against their peers but the likes of the top 6 are so way above in terms of players and resources that it's just not viable.

It's not pretty, but tonight shows that it is effective.

No. No no no no. There was a lot riding on that and we fucked the pooch at the end of 15/16. I could have experienced one of my happiest moments as a Spurs fan one year earlier than I did.

But agreed that we shouldn't expect the same collapse this season as we saw in 2015/16; I have confidence that the team will bring this one home and achieve both CL qualification and finishing above Arsenal this year.

Apparently we've lost 11 games this season, more than we've lost in the previous 2, & we can't lose any more.

if we win our next 2, and Arsenal lose their next 2, and Man U lose to City or Chelsea, unless United turn around a +14 goals GD we are guaranteed top 4 even if we lose our last 2. if United also lose both their next 2 as well as Arsenal we are guaranteed top 4.

Don't even need Arsenal in this equation, if we win our next two, and united lose to city and beat chelsea we're top 4 on GD (which won't be surpassed if the results go this way)

I think so much was made out of it but actually in my view anyways nothing was riding on it. I am ofcourse in the minority

The Utd v Chelsea game is the big one. Utd will surely lose to City and effectively be out of the race. If they can get a result against Chelsea we should only need 6 points to all but guarantee CL.

I would be thinking like you if we had say two home and two away or if Arse, Chelscum and Manure werent such legends... I think we are clearly the third best team albeit we have lost so many games this season.

don't want Arse in the top 4 to be honest, and them playing Wolves and Leicester I'd have my best birthday week especially if we do beat Brighton tomorrow and spam on my birthday(y)

Well I think the key thing is that the team was completely broken emotionally after losing the title in that Chelsea game. This time we're coming off the back of some heroic displays, we're at the new stadium and there's a lot of positivity around the club. I really don't expect a repeat but equally with Spurs nothing would surprise me.

He's not really a hypocrite, he always maintains that what annoys him is that with all the expensive players top teams have, diving and cheating is just insult to injury.

I agree that they shouldn't roll over, but I think there's a difference between playing defensively, going long, being a little clever time wasting and then what burnley do which tonight was 6 players faking injuries inside of 10 minutes. I'm all for teams doing the best with what they're given but I don't want to see teams laying on the floor faking injuries.

I disagree with that because he's complained about other teams diving and has seldom referenced their millions, you can't say diving and feigning injuries is okay for one team because they have little money and not okay for others.
