If they’d do their research instead of relying on lazy cliches they could find a reason as we still have to play both City and Liverpool away.

Which is the reason why I think we could give it a good go but will ultimately fall short.

Such a shame we couldn’t have faced both clubs away earlier in the season when we were still rusty from the World Cup.

Personally prefer to play them when we are on form and can beat them.

But my point is even on form our level of performance at Anfield is usually bad and we got rinsed at City last year.

I get your point, but if we want to win something we need to win games like that. But let's concentrate on wolves.

I still believe ;)
Time to get our cash out now, bring in a Llorente replacement, and pay up for a top class CM, and go for it.
This is the most important transfer window we have ever had I think, really hope we get it right this time.

Yeah - but who?

Seriously?

I can think of N'Dombele, De Jong who would be first teamers but neither are coming to us, especially not in January.

So is available and gettable and, crucially, good enough?

Who will come and play second fiddle to Kane who is, also, clearly better than the options we already have?

Seriously throw some names out because I'm stumped. Perhaps Ducoure? Is he who you have in mind for this "most important window"?

Not the thread for it. Not being a mod just don't want the thread shut down.

Very true usually in the past we are normally beaten before we step over the white line this time will be a real test of how far we have come and want it enough.

We don't have a thread for it as the Transfer Forums have been opened but even this isn't a "wishlist" question - it's a request that people who insist we "must buy" to "go for it" identify who it is exactly they expect Levy to be getting.

It's too easy just to demand we "go for it". It's much harder to define how exactly we do that. Vexing issue.

Our form is better than I've ever known it, and I think the belief amongst this group is sky high.

Two incredibly tough fixtures on the face of it, but we're capable.

Vertonghen back in, and wrap Dembele up in cotton wool for playing some part in these two games.

We could look unbelievably strong full strength.

I know that, not trying to be difficult. Just saw a load of threads locked in the summer (including the youth thread) through discussion of who.

Yeah we could do. It’s just a bummer that they are not at home ( potentially even at the new stadium).

I wanna win the damn league and wanna beat Liverscum to it - I mean seriously nothing ABSOLUTELY NOTHING would be sweeter... imagine the Rawkers ...
The only thing sweeter would be us to win the title with Liverpool still unbeaten. :nailbiting::ROFLMAO:
The 2018/19 Invincibles will never walk alone...

But they don't so that can't be the reason they don't think we can win it.

I just want us to keep the momentum we've started to build. Continue to score lots of goals, and also put in some good performances when we play City and Pool eventually, so we're still believing the impossible with only a few games to go.

Except right at the end of the season, when individual results can have clear implications for the championship, relegation and qualification for the CL/EL, it is always preferable for a match between two close, direct rivals to end in a draw. It gives our competitors 2 points instead of 3 and thus materially improves our chances of success.

The discussion about whether we want Arsenal to lose is meaningless to me. I don't care about Arsenal. I just want Spurs to win.
Slightly contradictory points there DM. I agree with the first - a draw is almost always preferable :)

Lpools points this calendar year is close to 100. They were excellent second half last season and started this season in the same form.

We have been traditional slow starters. Start improving our form from late Oct and early Nov. And hold that form through second half season.

This season we have won ugly. It’s been almost horrible to watch throughout Aug and Sept. But we are hitting our usual second half season form.

Knowing Poch trains them hard, once they adapt to workload or are allowed to freshen up, we see a different energy and speed. Poch’s methodology has been the same, with consistent results. Smash em early season with gruelling double workouts, allow them to gradually freshen, then maintain.

The last three seasons show we can carry our form through. Can Liverpool? They were sharp and fresh from the start, theoretically they could run out of gas, as they have gone 12months without the “training block”.

They have not rotated the same as us, they have CL, World Cup fatigue etc too. With pundits and fans all over the red bandwagon, the expectations are so big for them. I hope they draw with Scum and City. Stay front runners and favourites. Keep City as second favourites.

Our sneaky come from behind last minute win could be on!

Not really. 2015/16 we only won 4 of our last 10 games. And we only won half our last 6 last season.

In between in 16/17 we were unbeaten for first 12, lost twice over November/December, dropped a bollock against Sunderland in January then lost to Liverpool in February before losing customarily to West Ham in May.

We were whipped at home to City and Liverpool so can see why no one fancies us away. We haven’t beaten Liverpool at Anfield since Van der Vaart was in his prime

Fully agree with you. What we have seen throughout the seasons with Pochettino is that the team always goes through a stretch every season of not reaching its fullest potential. They are in fact not of consistent form throughout one full season, and this lack of consistent performances is the very reason why we still have no titles under Pochettino. The performance ceiling would indicate that we very much should have had a title by now, but the lack of consistency counters that. Looking at the results in a 24 or 36 months perspective, we probably are the best team in the league, but we are never the overall best between any one period running from August to May.

This squad has got mentally stronger with each year. Who would have thought over the past 2 calendar years we would have gone to Liverpool, Madrid, Juventus, Dortmund, Barca, United, Chelsea and Arsenal and got results.

This team are getting better year on year. They know it themselves, see Sonny's interview with Sky Sports. It has been an upward curve the last 4.5 seasons under Poch.

We have finished top 3 last 3 seasons running on top of that. Best start to a league season since 61 I believe too. This project has been yielding results, just need that trophy to cement it.
