show me where i said chimbs had a bad game ? you might think its ok for a pro like yourself) to not hit the target from 12 yrds but i dont...no matter what the "pressures"like

show me where I said I was a Pro? Im semi pro actually and there's a difference!

Also show me where I said it was ok to miss??

No, I said that saying Chimbo was a disgrace is itself disgraceful because like all the other fickle fans, you're judging him based on a sequence of play that last 3 seconds.

Im sure you, Mr Iceman, would hit the target every time without fail and would never miss the target in taking a penalty. Highly unlikely.

I agree, if asnyone slates the peno takers it takes the biscuit.

Anyway, Robbo dived way to early! Hehe! ;)

I didn't think we played 'really' well. We played ok, but they were absolutely dogshit. We should have been able to punish their sloppyness like they did ours at the lane.

It wasn't to be, but at least last season we were dumped out by a better side, this season? I'm not so sure...

We played really well, had such bad luck and some decisions against us were paper thin. We were unlucky with a lot of bounces too.

Whoever slags off people that decided to take and miss pens are a disgrace. It's a highly pressured situation, and you have to have a lot of bottle to take one in the first place.

Tut. Fucking. Tut.

The future is bright.
I never give out rep. JUst given you some!

Im absolutely gutted. Sitting here cutting a desolate figure with a couple of stellas and a glass of gin. I don't blame jenas, chimbo's peno was awful but gomez tonite was on fine form. I think anyother keeper steed would have scored tonite. Gomez is a large lad....almost as big as his nose!

:-|

Gomes is a fucking good keeper, and if you can't see that, we need not debate the topic a second longer, coz it'll be a waste of your breath as well as mine.

Great shot-stopper, gives you kittens coming out for crosses and high balls. Hmmm. Sounds familiar.

I agree that he's a good keeper but so is Robbo.

We dont need a "good" keeper we need a "reliable" keeper

But I take your point that Gomes is good

Really? Rather eccentric in a Grobelaar kind of way. Very dodgy on crosses. I dont think that he was very good over either leg to be honest.

Players like Maradona, Platini, Zico and Van Basten missed penalties in the biggest tournaments. It's stupid to blame Jenas or Chimbo.

Kendall, we did punish them, just not as much as we could ahve, but we coud ahve conceded more in the first leg as well.

To be honest, barring his assist, I thought Chimbonda had a rotten game, but I'm not silly enough to think it's his fault he went out tonight. As you say, he has the guts to take a penalty where Steed and Lennon didn't.

Knew he was going to miss, though :shifty:

Agree on all counts. He kept getting caught out of position. Granted he has to cover more or less the whole flank, but he over ran his man on too many occasions and was left chasing. Felt he was gonna miss all along although i couldn't watch any of our pens.

It's not clever and it's not right but anyone else wish we had the PSV keeper in our goal for those penalties?

I have to say though, Berbatovs volley was out of this World.

Hopefully the Carling Cup win, and the drastic signs of improvement under Ramos has convinced him to stay.

The biggest signing whoever we bring in in the Summer, will be Berbatov, if we can get him to sign a new contract.

I'd take Gomes' "dodgy on crosses" any day of the week over someone like Robinson, who'll stay on his line. You know what you get with Gomes. He rarely catches crosses, but he very rarely doesn't get them away to safety. The defenders know exactly what he's going to do.

Call it what you want, but Gomes is a great keeper, and that includes his commanding of the area.

The reason Chimbonda took a penalty before Woodgate and Lennon is because he had the guts to take one and they chickened out!

Here here, much as it is natural to want to slate players who miss in these circumstances, you have to respect the fact that they had the bottle to step up and do so.

Its a frustrating way to go out, but I for one am proud of the lads and look forward to a strong finish to the season and glorious year next season.

We already have our first trophy for the best part of a decade and have made Uefa cup qualification for 3 years straight (unthinkable only a short while ago).

Now we need to focus on keeping our better players and bringing in the right players to complete our squad and look forward not backwards on tonights misfortune (we did well and were simply unlucky)

Here's the caveat. i thought Robbo had one of the best games for us in a long time. Kept us in the match. Saved a pen. But... he never looked close to any of any of the others. Their guy was finger-tips away every time. And Robbo didn't try any mind games either. Just played fair. But I wanted him to get right in their faces... anyway, like i say, it's not clever and it's not's right, but...
