It would be, but they are a slightly different prospect at home with their fans behind them.

Even then though, recently they have been poor. They have won 9, drawn 2 lost 3 in total at home but both draws and 2/3 losses have been in their last 5 home games and were against Forest (L), Man City (L), Luton (D), Bournemouth (D) and Wolves (W).

Being a one-season wonder team isn't easy itself, but consistency at the top is much much harder.

3 wins against us since 2014. Apart from the horror show against stellini last year, the last time they beat us was 2016 when they were relegated.

Could Cole Palmer have a case to start for England ahead of Saka? Better stats per minute in a much weaker team.

No, like Foden his stats are much better when central than RW. We really should be playing Rice, Bellingham and either Maddison, Palmer or Foden in a 3 CM. Also, Saka has 18 goals/assists in 32 games for England so is not someone I would be looking to drop.

Good point. For me it would be Foden left just because there aren’t any other great options in that spot. In midfield would be Rice, Bellingham and then one of Palmer, Gallagher, Maddison, or Alexander Arnold imo

Hypothetical scenario: Assume we end up with 5 CL places and Spurs get one of them. Out of Villa and United who would people want to get the 5th spot?

Now I enjoy watching United struggle as much as anyone who remembers the 1990s and Fergie-time does, but personally I'd go with them rather than Villa.

My reason is that I think Villa could really do with the CL money from an FFP perspective. Without it I don't think they'll be in a position to strengthen and may even have to sell one or two. I could easily see them slipping back into the midtable pack. With United I don't think the CL money makes much difference in the grand scheme of things as the problems at that club aren't down to a lack of revenue. And as a side bonus if they get CL then I think Ten Hag is probably safe for another season, which suits me just fine as I don't think he's the right man for the job.

United blow everyone out of the water financially already. Them fluking getting CL probably harms them in a way as they’d end up keeping Ten Haag.

I'd go for Villa over United.

Look at Newcastle this season with all that Saudi money despite having CL, have been unable to go big in the transfer market.

Fair point re: Newcastle. I'm not sure if getting CL would actually be a head start for Ratcliffe, though. I think that club needs a complete reboot from top to bottom and them getting lucky with a 5th CL place could end up delaying that.

Agent Deki needs to get in Isak’s ear and get him agitating for a move to us, he’d be a long term Sonny successor. If they finish mid table and need to sell to be compliant with FFP it’s not out of the realm of possibility

United are a sleeping giant. They pack out the stadium playing shite, they're well supported around the globe, they sell shirts. Even a decade of off and on football, the papers, Sky, radio etc still talk about them everyday. People who don't follow football still think they're the biggest.

If they ever got their act together with the right structure in place they would be very dangerous on the field and financially too. I think most chairmen around the league know this
