Feels like it's coming full circle for Villa now. Recent poor results in games they have played well in counterbalancing the start of the season where they picked up wins in games they were on the backfoot for most of the time. Watkins has developed into an excellent forward but he's not got that Midas touch anymore of just needing a slight sight of goal to score.

Top 4 in our own hands after that.
I would hope we go on a little run ourselves now tbh. Not been at it for a few games. If we can get some form up as the squad settles again there are plenty of winnable games ahead of us and a chance to put some daylight between us and at least yanited, if not Villa as well.

Ours to lose now.

I’m aware, but there’s 14 games left this season. I’m more concerned about United gaining momentum and keeping a good run going than Villa picking up one extra point and temporarily going ahead of us on goal difference.
4 games in unbeaten is their longest unbeaten run this season. We're currently unbeaten in 5. Chill

Can’t quite understand why Neville just said we’d have wanted Villa to win to keep ManU away from fourth!
Honestly I’m more worried about villa, ManU aren’t even on my radar!

Absolutely, And Roy Keane saying that we're gonna be worried now. I wouldn't say they're not on our radar though as if the gap gets to three points, which isn't inconceivable, you have to respect that they're close.

A win at Wolves and Villa especially are fantastic results, but this United side aren't world beaters all of a sudden. No surprise to see Neville and Keane getting ahead of themselves already.

It's funny, but Ange has totally changed my mentality. In previous seasons I would be thrilled to be fourth and desperate to hang on, now I'm only eyeing the teams above us

This is it exactly. If United are able to catch us there's no reason why we can't catch the teams in front. Especially with the run of games ahead of us now and European football starting for all around us.

I think todays result was the most significant for Villa.

We'll finish above both, barring another inury nightmare.

Neville's comment about us probably wanting Villa to win halfway through the game is yet another example of him talking up Man United. Wanting Villa to win was the 3rd of the 3 options in reality.
My preference would have just about on balance been a draw followed by a Man United win followed by a Villa win.

Yep, that was my order of preferable outcomes too. Neville is quick to be outspoke over how shit they are, and just as quick to build them up too much after a few wins.

I first and foremost want to see Villa just fall away. United have shown us all season that they'll drop multiple points that they shouldn't, and I'm not yet convinced that will change.

Absolutely.

This is why Neville is so up and down.

Gets carried away far too quickly then when the next dropped points come he goes to town on the whole Club, particularly the hierarchy/owners.

But the reality of that game today was Villa definitely created more clear cut openings.

Ollie Watkins poor finishing was the difference.

Yep. Weve def not been fully at it, gradually getting players back and are understandably a bit rusty and in that period weve remained unbeaten in our last 9 league games (I think). Hopefully we can start to get a run of wins under the belt and we could be right in the mix. We are going to absolutely smash some side soon.

Lost away to Brighton in that period, but yeah we've been picking up a decent amount of points whilst not being at our best.
