I know it's locked but the player watch thread for Trippier, the transfer rumours, the amount of bullshit he got; "He's not good enough", "we need better", and the bullshit people got defending him
Hindsight... what a curse that is.
Most are uncapable of looking behind players performances. Whether players are played to their strengths, exposed for the weaknesses, or even if they are unfit or injured. And managers must carry some blame as well. We've seen it this season, don't play Emerson in a role where he's expected to be an attacking wing backs with lots of crossing opportunities. Don't play Porro in a role where he's unprotected and have to defend a lot. Trippier's downfall at Spurs is very much on Pochettino, who demanded him to be like Kyle Walker both defend and attack in every minute of the game. Something you need an insane engine for. It left him out of position all the time with lots of space behind him and a fan base simply seeing him as the closest player to blame.
