Lo Celso time will soon be upon us

The GOAT Celso will rescue us.

Can't really judge against this level of opposition, but I'm going to anyway. Midfield 3 look great, and Udogie looks good. Our right side concerns me, still not convinced by Porro at RB, and although hes playing ok Kulusevski's lack of a right foot is a big problem in this system. Defence have had nothing to do but still managed to concede which is impressive.

I've called out a few instances where he's been poor but it's only our second match under a new manager, with most players nowhere near full fitness. Everything to be taken with a pinch of salt.

Maddison with his third or fourth brilliant ball, with the outside of his foot, to Son, yet Son's cross into Kane is horrible.

Son misplacing a one-yard pass.

That cross landed in the front row at the opposite side of the pitch, which is some feat considering row 1 is 800 yards from the pitch.

I would much rather have Kulu on this form

Well the difference is that Kulu have had way more opportunities in the penalty area compared to Son, which equals more criticism his way.

I think you can definitely read something into the goals conceded in the two games though.

Yeah that's true. I think playing Royal at RB would help with that a lot, though.

My hottest of takes - Bentancur does not walk back into the XI when fit!

He'll be part of a rotation at 6 and 8, so he will play, but he won't be an automatic ahead of Bissouma at 6, nor Sarr/Lo Celso at the 8 (or Maddison at the other 8, who I assume will play virtually every match).

I think Sarr and Lo Celso can be that good in this system, nothing against Bentancur.

Would show some serious strength in depth if so but I think he will walk back into the XI as he is an absolute verging on world class midfielder, Bissouma 6, Bentancur and Maddison as the 8's. Sarr, Lo Celso and Skipp as back-ups.

We shall see. Certainly not our main area of weakness right now.

Competition for places is healthy and could easily rotate Lo Celso with Maddison to be honest.

It does now highlight the fact that there is no immediate rush to replace Hojbjerg in this squad.

Few players with rusty touches and passing, and Kane seemed out of position or slow to react
Porro would be better further up the right. Definitely leave Kulu on and move him inside (although prob all 11 changing)
Sarr pushing for a starting spot and Bissouma nailed on, he looks tidy on the ball and plays well with Maddison

Shame Ange doesn't have more matches to get them purring, but positive signs

Kulu has been a bit wasteful but yea he's been better than Son. Son is massively unfit and out of rhythm though and different type of player to Kulu.

I think Deki and Maddison have been really good. Deki's been somewhat let down by Kane not being available for any balls.
Kane hasn't really been a part of the game at all today IMO.

Useful exercise of attacking against a set defence but can't read too much into this.

Will it be a whole different 11 second half I wonder?

We will see. I don't think he is a great fit as an 8 in this system - he does not operate around the box as well as he does sitting deep.

And, I think it will be tougher for him to move Bissouma off the 6 spot.

As I said - its a hot take - but, it would also be a good problem to have if that is our depth.

He has stalled so many attacks cutting back inside, then allowing the defence to get back into shape

Enjoying the approach play from the bits I am able to catch. Just need to work on that finishing, but it will come. Rather waste chances here than when the season starts.
