I guess it depends on who is getting dropped to play 3 in cm.

But it might lack goals
Maybe, but Liverpool found great success with a very workmanlike midfield three, before Thiago joined.

@ajjb how is this wrong?!

Only just had a chance to see the interview. How refreshing. He seems humble, dedicated and ambitious. His performances when I have seen him have impressed and I am so pleased he's joined. Suddenly our midfield seems strong, which is such a turnaround.

Not sure about “we’ll make our money back eventually” it’s looking like we’re likely to make less than 50% back on Lo Celso and god knows what will happen with Tanguy.

I think only reason we’re taking a different approach this summer is due to the cash injection and admission we need a shot in the arm to get back amongst the title chasing pack.

previously being run sustainably meant there was little room for fuck ups and every penny in influenced what we could spend on new signings.

I doubt uncle joe will be giving away 150m again anytime soon so I don’t think this ‘big club’ approach will continue past this summer.

I'm sure it will be an option in some games, but I'm not sure we will go far away from the 353 formation as a starting formation.

What formation did they play then?

I'm guessing with those 3 you could get away with 2 at the back if someone can drop back like Dier use to do.

They played (and play) 433. But yes, I agree we're unlikely to move from 3 at the back.

Having a goalscorer like Barrela would be nice but with Deki/Son/Kane and even Perišić we will be fine in goals department, especially if we add Richarlison or similar for more options. Bentancur and PEH are around 80-90 percentile when it comes to creativity, it would be nice to get Eriksen who is in 99th percentile (!) but this is already good.

You must be fun at parties ?

No probably not, buy we needed an injection and hopefully with the stadium making money we won't need to do it again

I love the juxtaposition of the top two stories on BBC Sport.

premier league proven midfielder coming in to his peak years that would walk into almost every team’s midfield

versus,

Up and coming youngster from foreign league for £10m more:

Over the moon with the signing but really surprised that Bissouma has signed a 4 your contract and not a 5 year contract. That is unprecedented over the last decade when it comes to Spurs signing 21-26 years olds.

It might not seem like a big difference but it means we might need to sell him on in two years time if he is not interested in signing a new contract with the club.

His interview with us was really great. He has that attitude, that heart...a hard worker, grateful for everything but hungry for the next step.

Big season for him and Spurs ahead!

PEH - Bissouma
-- Bentancur --

Would like to see this deployed at some point. PEH is probably the best CM we have at winning the ball higher up the pitch and generally making the right decision. Adding Bissouma by his side and we'll be able to put teams in a chokehold and capitalize on their collective ability to press and win the ball back in dangerous positions.
So who are you dropping?

Perisic, spence and Doherty will chip in with a fair few goals with the right midfield feeding them.
