He should of gone on loan to Brighton a few years ago instead of Fenerbahce and proved himself in the prem. That maybe shows his mentality.

Wish him the best though.

Fenerbache didn't come back for him despite scoring a few goals in his spell there. He was mostly a sub , sometimes unused

Dude just isn't good enough

We rolled the dice with him, and gkn and were unlucky. Especially since we couldn't shift them as easily as our other random gambles njie and stambouli

He got an ankle injury at that time? I remember he was in the starting XI before the injury

Such a shame. I remember his debut against Everton, had 3 or 4 good chances, even one cleared off the line. Any of them go in and his career at Spurs May have been better.

I remember that game too. I have regularly thought what might have been if one off the line had gone in. Realistically though I don't things would have changed.

It didn't work out for him here but I'm just relieved that he's finally gone. I feel just like that time I emerged victorious from the bathroom 8 days after drunkenly binge eating a dozen hard boiled eggs :joyful:.

It's not just confidence. He had one good season in a mediocre league where players regularly succeed when they fail elsewhere. Before that he was playing at an amateur level, after that he's either been injured or disastrous. He's quite simply not very good IMO.

That would make him Celtic's record transfer of all time, and he'd also likely be the top earner there (believe they top out at £25k right now). No way is he worth that to them, especially as their modus operandi is cheap young players to sell on at a profit. People grossly overestimate the financial capabilities of teams outside the PL.

25k is correct. Sinclair on a bit more, though, but some of that paid by Desmond. Janssen on 35k.

Surprised a championship team didn’t take a chance on him. I think he would’ve done ok at that level.

Managers generally earn less than the top players do, and being able to go straight into a job like that is definitely a boon for him. You're right, I expect he's on somewhere in the £30k-£50k wage while doing two jobs, but if anything that level of outlay makes Janssen on big money even less likely. If they're in for him I expect part of the deal is us still paying half the wages, and I doubt we'll do that at least until right at the end of the window if we've got no other offers.

Or we reduce the fee so they take his wages £10m is pretty cheap for someone who should be very good in that league

I’ve a mate in turkey who is a fenerbache fan. He didn’t pull up any trees there and was injured a lot.

Got to wonder what would of happened had he got that goal in that opening fixture against Everton. Things could have been different but it’s a big assumption.

Lol, yeah, it wouldn't have made that much difference.

Any ideas what kind of fee we will get and what sort of wages he would be on in the Mexican league?

Came across few tweets related to Janssen: I gather he will be on 2m$USD a yr (30k£ a week) wages and fee is rumored 8m$USD (6.5m£)

I kinda feel sad and also glad to see him go... I agree with others he just wasn't good enough. Hope he does well though!
