Different now though, whether they are deluded or not they see us as direct rivals now, whereas under Rupert they were low levels of league, so expectations are higher and there was no social media to whip up fan revolts
Some of their fans certainly seem a bit deluded judging by some comments I've read.

I know it's been mentioned, but maybe we truly are thinking of some 3 CB looks. I kind of like the idea of it given the diverse group we have and also the wingbacks we could implement. I guess we shall see.

We should definitely try it as it will mean we're not reliant on Rose and Trippier breaking their balls to get back and defend. 3 centre backs and a DM will be sufficient cover.

Saints web would be a fun read if that were to happen.

They won't take Townsend as there was chatter on their forum that no one in their right mind would take a headless chicken in part ex for their star player lol

So basically they're not giving up on a deal they're very much in the dark over lol.

Talk about a desperate crumb of ITK.
The ITK from hertyid posted earlier talks about there being a contract being processed for a new player and that it was heavily implied it was for Alderweireld. Whilst on the other side with the Saints ITK they seems to be clutching at whatever they can. Getting desperate like you say.

There is so much ill feeling, and the fan backlash they would face for doing business with us would be horrendous, I see what you are saying but it ain't going to happen with him or anyone from Southampton.
Life doesn't work like that, nor does business.

Fact of the matter is that this is only M&A. If we don't sign MS or anyone it will have nothing to do with how we may have slighted another club. It will be down to money and appealing to the player.

I am not saying that we will sign MS but it will have nothing to do with how some chump fans see Spurs. More importantly if a chairman allows himself to be swayed by fans then he should quit because he hasn't got the minerals to protect a club from its fans.

It is kind of funny how its gone from all the bluster of "We are going to sue!!!!!" to "Please pick up the phone...."

I kind of imagine Les Reed leaving some awkward phone messages - kind of like when you are drunk dialing your ex at 3:00 am.

Football, a business of million and million Euros, pounds and dollars. And how often are you hearing about two clubs or a club and a player bitching around like in a kindergarden. :ROFLMAO:

Pochettino will never break with his beloved 4-2-3-1. Never.

I don't think its just fans there is ill feeling towards Spurs throughout the club. They will want huge money from Spurs, Levy won't do it and thats that. Not going to happen.

OK so the one and only Les Reed has gone over, we're clearly playing with the big boys here.

Only one way to respond...

Send in former Labour home secretary and bruiser John Reid, former touring car race winner Anthony Reid and Damien Rice impersonator the human cannonball himself Andy Reid, we can't stop there if we want to rival Les. A cardboard cut out of the much missed Mike Reid and just in case that isn't what they are after someone who can't read, Harry Redknapp - job done.

Atletico stand by their claim that they paid the St Mary's club the £1.5m necessary to cancel
that arrangement, while Southampton insist the Spaniards missed the deadline to do so last week.

Surely easy things to prove, respectively.

My guess is SCBC have made a monumental cock-up with this and are trying desperately to bring as much noise to the proceedings as possible to deviate attention away from the fact that they've been found out as being schoolboys in a man's world.

And shinehead has just given them a jolly good spanking.
