Found this whilst looking for an update on TA transfer odds (BTW no one is making a maket in this anymore probably meaning the bookies reckon it is a done deal.)

Pochettino’s Tottenham prayers to be answered by Saints star

Toby Alderweireld has dropped a huge hint that he’s eyeing up Spurs move
25 March 2015

Only days after bemoaning his side’s cavalier defending in their rollercoaster win over Leicester, Mauricio Pochettino will be delighted to hear the latest news.

Atletico Madrid centre-back Toby Alderweireld, currently on loan at top-four rivals Southampton, has offered a huge clue over where he sees himself playing next season.

“I would like to play with Jan Vertonghen again,” said Alderweireld. “But a transfer will be arranged later, not now. Atlético will decide my future, but I would like to stay in the Premier
League. That some of the big clubs show interest proves I’m doing well.”

Clearly, the lure of White Hart Lane is increased by slotting in next to his old pal Vertonghen in the centre of the Lilywhites defence.

The pair are Ajax alumni, where they forged an understanding which translated into two Eredivisie titles.

Although the duo eventually went to different clubs off the back of their success in Holland, as Belgian international teammates they’ve obviously remained close.

The prospect of the pair complimenting each other again at the Lane is sure to excite Pochettino and Spurs fans in equal measures.

Alderweireld has played a key role in forging the Premier League’s meanest defence at St.Mary’s, while Spurs have leaked like a badly-installed shower for large parts of the season.

Only four sides in the division have conceded more than Pochettino’s men, who would surely be better off than 12/1 shots for the top four had they been able to tighten their collective belts.

The point being he has wanted to come to us for some time...and obviously knew the terms of his own loan deal
so given the chance....

I know it's been mentioned, but maybe we truly are thinking of some 3 CB looks. I kind of like the idea of it given the diverse group we have and also the wingbacks we could implement. I guess we shall see.

Not sure how long we're going to delay announcing it, I expect the media to be all over it now - and we'll probably see loads of reports around 10 tonight, if indeed it is done.

I've given up reading Saintsweb now. We've seen loads of media reports that he's had his medical but then you get some randomer on there saying that their dad saw him in a cafe in Belgium.

That's ridiculous, Southampton is no where near Belgium.

Social media seems to be everywhere, there is no privacy anymore.

Except when you're trying to find out if Spurs have signed someone or whether that player is in a different country completely. And all of a sudden, nobody in the world has a camera phone on them!

The guys at Saintsweb going through the later stages of denial.

"No quotes!"
"Toby totally prefers us, all the media reports from reliable sources are all made up by the London biased media!"

To be fair, we've been on the other side of these sagas and gone through the same many times, so I sort of feel for them.
I get your point but I don't give two hoots about how they feel. We got ribbed for William and others now someone else can be the ones on the receiving end.

Very heartless I know am sorry...:sneaky:

But... If he wants to play with Vertonghen again... From what I've heard for about 18 months, Jan is totally disinterested and definitely off. So maybe they'll play together at Southampton?

This is the update from Saints version of Trix/JJ:

Southampton have made contact with Atleti, no response as of 15:00 today.

Toby agent has spoken to Spurs, that's an absolute minimum.

Saints are not giving up but do not know how far along any deal between Spurs & Toby currently is, a particular club official has been very busy today trying to get this done.
