cabinessence:
Nuno has identified him and a select group of others as needing to improve their fitness to another level (or maybe from another level) and they're on a different regime away from the main squad.

Tbf this is like me turning up at the training ground and "identifying" Harry Kane as a goalscoring threat.

So we're just going to ignore the other players also on this alleged training regime?

Im not a detractor I think he has the ability to be our best player and probably the best cm in the league. However what I don't understand is the opposite to you people who just wont take any criticism of him. He at times has clearly looked like he is either knackered or cant be bothered I would rather think he is unfit and mourinho's old school dinosaur approach to player fitness hasn't helped that than believe he just cant be arsed. There was a stat from the wolves game 18 months ago where he played a whole half of football without sprinting once. He has to absolutely sort out either his fitness or desire whichever one it is as at the moment he does let games drift by him at times and we all know its absolutely not his talent.... its desire or fitness and tbh both of those should be the minimum expectation for anyone who puts our shirt on.

Couple things. I've not above criticizing him when has a poor showing and praising him when he does well. I just take don't any joy in name calling or being lazy with my criticism.

After the Arsenal game which we lost 2-1
Just a really poor showing by him today. He's our creative spark from deep and I do look forward to GLC getting back to health to help take some of the responsibility off of Tanguy's shoulders.

After the Southampton game which we won 2-1
I would have to have seen Gio drop deeper and Tanguy play higher up the pitch. Though Tanguy's own performance wasn't great, Ralph had the Southampton players doubling/tripling up on and constantly kicking at him to throw him off his game.

After the Shefflied United game which we won 3-1 and Tanguy put in a MOTM performance
Time to bury the "Ndombele can't play for 90 minutes and he certainly can't play in a CM2 because he won't help defensively" lines that are trotted out almost weekly on here.

Finally, comparing his 1st and 2nd seasons at our club, has he improved? If you need to pick a game from 18 months ago to beat him over the head with to try justify the idea that he's lazy and lacks desire, doesn't that mean he's improved? I mean, wouldn't it be easier to pull from recent memory a performance this season that was matched with that poor showing vs Wolves?

he played the full 90 minutes 5 times in 29 appearances his first season, 7 in 46 appearances last season. I'm not going to weigh in on desire but fitness has been an issue.

Apart from Sessengon I think the other 3 deserve a friendly kick up the arse and I hope it does them all good
Bit strange all the others are fullbacks

Maybe it has something to do the level of fitness based on the formation and style of play Nuno is looking for from his full backs, or they are just getting an extra lung fitted……

Picking up an injury back end of last season would play a part. I heard Sess got injured but not too sure.

Hope to see a little more aggression in his play this year and his personality come out more. Has all the ability in the world he just needs to dominate more.

I would imagine the club probably also gave him a day or two off after he became a father for the first time, so he might also be part of that group to make up for lost sessions/match-time. Purely conjecture though.

Just checket Tanguys instagram account. He has a bit out where it seems Jack Clarke has used Kanes slippers in the wardrobe. Tanguy joking that its disrespectful. Lots of laughter. Kane is tagged in the video.
Funny.

Not surprised that two players who contracted COVID ( Doherty and Ndombele) are having to do some specific work to get their fitness up. We really don't know the long term effects contracting COVID will have on individuals ( whether it will impact VO2 Max and Lung capacity etc )and assuming that Ndombele showed up to pre-season out of shape reads like pure bias to me.
So Ndombele had covid a year before everyone else?
