SMS is gonna go for close to 100M, so I'd say NDombele is worth every bit of 80M if that's what it takes.

He might be worth 80m to them, but if it means we can’t sign another CM and a RB then he’s not worth it to us.

Don’t get me wrong, I’m exaggerating for effect but we have to think about opportunity costs

ESPN reporter saying that Madrid want him, and will bid, if they don't get Pogba

Madrid have been linked with all the big ticket players this window that’s not surprising. Hopefully we can get it over the line before any other teams drum up interest.

To those of you questioning the reported fee, ask yourself one question. Was VVD worth the £75 million Liverpool paid for him? Different player in a different position but his necessity was similar to ours with N’Dombele.

If N’Dombele works out for us, he will be worth every penny as will Lo Celso.

Not going to lie and say it doesn't make sense or that he's unreliable but Ndombele is clearly a plan A for us and would be an after thought/plan Bish for Madrid. Would hope we push our interest quick and aggressively to complete the deal while Madrid are still arguing over Pogba vs Eriksen.

It was said a few weeks ago that he may not necessarily value playing for the biggest of the big clubs at this point in his career, that he wants guaranteed playing time in the midfield of a large Champions League club for his French national team chances and we offer him the best opportunity.

That said, RM come calling can change anyone's tune.

£65m gets this done IMO.

I can't think of any other midfielder in world football who is attainable that would be a better fit than this guy. He's the perfect age for Poch to mould and has all the attributes to go right to the very top.

This is the type of transfer that will narrow the gap between City and Pool.

This end of the month stuff is interesting. I remember it before with Liverpool and Fekir. It's to boost their figures at the end of their financial year I believe.

Yeah it's a big thing for them. I don't remember the exact reason but I'm pretty sure it has something to do with the stock exchange and shareholders (please correct/elaborate if I'm wrong)

Genuinely thought this was one of those unobtainable deals I wouldn't even put on a wishlist at the start of the summer.

Not getting hopes up, but if we're pull this off it's a big step closer to the big boys.

Poor EPL side:

Bournemouth paid £21m for Solanke who had a grand total of 1 professional goal to his name.

Top 10 side:

Everton paid £45m for Sigurdsson... a decent player but not a top 6 player.

Top 6 side:

Spurs - being asked to pay circa £60-80m for N’Dombele and Lo Celso, 2 players whom are both being pursued by Europe’s elite clubs.

Top 6 team in Europe.

PSG paid £135m for M’bappe Lottin and £222m for Neymar, 2 world class players.

Therefore us paying £60-80m when taking into account the above pecking order isn’t unreasonable. Yes it’s still an eye watering amount of money but it’s the going rate for quality players. Should they go on to become world class then they will be completely out of our price range.
