A lot of people saying that they think it’s only a matter of time before Tanguy is shown the door but I’m not convinced. I think Ange will work with him and he could be a vital player for us this season.
In both of the videos I’ve seen of Ange welcoming the players onto the training ground he pats them all on the back but always gives Tanguy a double tap which to me is that extra acknowledgement and warmth.

I could be well off the mark, but unlike some on here I still really want him to come good for us.
He didn't have stamina to play meaningful minutes in Italy, no way he can make it in Premiership. Best case scenario he's impact sub (15 mins top) for us.

Yes he's not the most incredible athlete but to suggest he can only manage 15 minutes (tops!) is just absurd.

Agree that if he stays he'd largely be used as an impact/rotation option, but in Italy like half his appearances were 25 mins+ and he did get about 10 starts in all comps (although he never lasted a full 90 unsurprisingly).

He wasn't a purely a late game sub option.

If we were to play a 443 with a high line, I don't know where he fits into the team. System more than often requires the midfield unit to put pressure on the ball otherwise you are in serious trouble. From what we have, Bissouma takes one spot and Bentancur another (hopefully the ACL injury doesn't impact him too negatively on his return). Third I'm assuming would go to Maddison.

From what we've seen from Ndombele so far, not much there to suggest you can trust him to get through the off the ball work and think it only takes one cog in that system to not do what it's supposed to do to leave you seriously exposed. Way he looks to move the ball forward will no doubt appeal to Postecoglou but not at the expense of being left exposed off the ball.

With Maddison now here with his passing ability we have someone who can be charged with moving the ball forward so just can't see Postecoglu taking the risk on someone who he doesn't completely trust. This is obviously on the assumption that we are talking about the same Ndombele we've seen so far and to be honest I don't think we are going to see anything fundamentally different from him imo.

its still a big ask - given his history - but a motivated, in-form, Ndombele gets in ahead of Bentancur as an 8 for me.

In fact, I could see Bentancur as more of a 6 in this formation than as an 8.

But, I think we are still a long way from seeing if Ndombele will be motivated, and if Bentancur will be healthy (and have mobility) when he returns.

I believe Ange uses his subs fairly early in the second half, to keep pressure on the ball at all time. So essentially we need two good sets of midfielders, as they do the most running, they're the most likely to be substituted

I'm pleased to see that a few people are getting hopeful with regards to Ndombele getting a chance and maybe we will see what we was all excited about in the first place but I do think we need to be cautious not to let that hope turn into expectation because I just don't want to see the level of vitriol of last time because people felt let down due to how excited they were.

I've maintained pretty consistently that there's a player there who was not in the right environment for his sensibilities (and felt the anger about him heading my way for that conviction). I just wanted there to be a slither of a chance and I'm so happy with what seems to be that it is beyond that but I think the reason I've been able to be calm about his situation in the past is I don't expect Ndombele to turn into prime Zidane in the opening few games. I think if we can keep it in the bracket of hope, then that'd give us a more balanced outlook on him rather than the extreme's of the past.

Few pics of him smiling in the training photos so I expect the body language experts to flood this thread any second now

Hes proven he can be a useful squad player for a title winning Napoli.

So I'm sure he could be useful for us if utilized in the same way.

At least in a 4-4-3 with a high line he wouldn't have to track back as we'd have 10 others to do the job

Didn't make the squad for the cancelled Leicester match. Still injured, or has Ange seen enough and binned him off??

Not injured. Ange said the only one that is not available for selection is Dane. Hopefully Ange has seen enough of him and we start getting ruthless.

Probably just not 100% so not risked. There is always a good few who miss out anyway as we have 31 players out there.
