Give him the gig, he’s not had a chance yet. Maybe get in Toney for Jan if he’s still not working out. Or sign that other lad, he looks class. And bin Richie off lol.

Totally see him taking the job and running with it, should Kane be sold. Strikes me as the type that would make the most of the opportunity.

Minor note, but judging by the lines of the pitch he looks onside for the second "offside" goal.

Ange on Richy:

I hope so. I've said before that I really like Richy. He's someone who has got all of the attributes I look for in a striker in that he's got the strong work ethic, he's always in the right areas and he's presenting himself and making a presence of himself in the right areas for the way we play.

He was probably a bit unlucky not to get a couple against West Ham that night. Again he was in the right areas today. I've got a lot of time for him and he's one of the ones I'm looking forward to working with. From the outside you see a player and you try to picture how they fit into the kind of football you want to play and I certainly think he can.
They're different strikers. They have different strengths. Both though I think have a real presence in the penalty box and that's why Harry has scored so many goals and why he's one of the best strikers in the world. Richy is also a presence in the box in a different way so I think they've both got the right kind of qualities to play in that area and I think with Richy he can also play wide and as a second striker, mainly because he's got, and I think people dismiss it a bit, a really strong work ethic. He works hard for the team and a lot of what he does doesn't get seen. His pressing, his runs sometimes he doesn't get the ball but he's always making those runs and he's a constant nuisance for defenders. So he can play a couple of positions for sure.

Bearing in mind that, in the last season at Celtic, there were only 6 league games Ange didn't sub the striker and only 5 league games both wingers weren't subbed (not a single game that at least 1 wasn't subbed), we need to bring in another striker if/when Kane goes as well as having an additional 4 players for the wings.

We're probably fine on the wings... Perisic and Son on the left (who knows what's next for Sessegnon if/when he's fit), Kulusevski and Solomon on the right. Agree that if Kane goes we may need to bring in another specialist striker, because if Richarlison gets injured we have no adequate replacement unless Ange thinks Scarlett is ready to step up.

I'm getting more comfortable that Richarlison can work as the primary striker when Kane leaves. We still need to buy another, but it likely won't be a Muani or Vlahovic for financial reasons, and so Richarlison will need to step up. I think he will work well as an Ange style striker. At Everton and Watford he was the main goal threat, and of course it's well known that he plays this role for Brazil. If you look at his shot map history, he does his best work in the key central areas of the penalty box, which is where he needs to be to receive cutbacks and through passes from the creative players in our system

His shot map for us last season:

(Green circles are goals. Other colours are blocked shots, missed shots, saved, shots, woodwork shots).

I’m not. I like Richy and think we are bound to see an improvement. But he scored ONE premier league goal last season. It’s a big ask to think he’s going to replace the THIRTY that Kane scored.

So basically the identical situation we were in for years with Kane and no back up.

Exactly this, it’s also alright saying Son will score X and Kulu will score Y but it is a big ask.

People also forget Richy use to get played wide at Everton when bloody DCL was fit. I like him and think he will chip in but to rely on him as our main goal threat is crazy.

He may bag for Brazil at a decent clip but national football is so different to club football.

Reckon Richy can do a decent job. Question for me is how many games will he actually be available for? His injury record is very poor and he must be on the verge of having a chronic calf problem, having done it several times. What happens if he's out? We'll sign some kind of young up and coming N'striker and expect them to lead the attack?

I don't want to use last season as something to judge Richarlison on. He never played as a striker and none of our wide forwards had anything close to an ok season.

In a side where we're going to attack attack attack he can be that spearhead who presses like mad, puts himself about and gets into good positions. With the attacking intent that has been totally lacking in the past few years I don't think it's unreasonable to expect others to chip in with more goals. Maddison with free kicks and Sonny, Kulu and others are bound to get more chances to score

I don't think it's fair to expect him to. Unless we're signing Haaland there literally isn't a striker in the world who is guaranteed to come in and score 30 goals.

I think Richarlison is as good, if not better than any realistic replacement that we could get to fit the exact role that Ange wants him to play. Add to that his intensity, determination, and the fact that Ange seemingly trusts him and I think, providing he stays fit, he'll be fine. His finishing is below par at times, but if we witness the chance creation that we have in our two pre-season games so far (admittedly a small sample size against weak opposition), then I think he'll prove a lot of people wrong.
