Incredible that we managed to come back against one of the best teams in the world with him on the pitch. And Skipp as well. You’d think that Ange would’ve kept Gil and Bissouma on - or maybe they just aren’t as bad as some in here want to make them.
Ah come on mate. He makes one good game by shoring things up and people come out as if all the arguments against him has been proven wrong. He does not start in this team and does not have a future in the squad.

Ha ha he made us more stable defensively but he gave the ball away constantly.

I’m not saying he should start, just that he’s not bad - definitely not as bad as some ppl think. He contributed a lot to our composure in the 2. half after his initial misplaced passes.

Nothing to do with him. It was having an outlet in Kulu on the right and bissouma growing into it. Hojbjerg came on and gave them the ball 3 x in a row.
Came here to state the same

Saw some comments on the match thread praising him because we were better in the second half, but nothing to do with him. He gave the ball away in bad areas twice in his first 5 mins alone

Great start to the half given the ball away about 3 times from sloppy passes
You're unbelievable, mate. It's like you're building your entire support on criticizing this guy. In this thread, in other threads; when he plays, when he doesn't play; the moment he makes mistakes, when he doesn't.

I get it, you don't like him, it's fine, but where do you find the energy to constantly single him out as if it's your life-mission?

Come on, he's even on his way out. Go out and celebrate that instead or something. :)

What exactly did he do that was so great?

PEH. What did he do that makes you think he had a great game?
I don't. I thought he was way too sloppy with the ball.

But I thought he upped our tempo, added needed movement in the middle, and made our look more balance. It was a great move from Ange, and PEHs presence helped us change the game.

Individually, he wasn't great, and I didn't say he was. I'm just enjoying @yido_number1s posts in general, but the constant posts about PEH in several threads for months (years?) is draining my energy in here. I'm just trying to figure out what the point is in doing it so frequently.

He was awful, his first 3 touches gave the ball away and put us in trouble. And the suggestion that he added tempo is laughable, he just doesn't think or react quickly enough for a game like that. He was a liability today.

"Nothing to do with him" says you two.

Yet Ange thought he was "excellent":

I don't know why it's so hard for some to give certain players credit. No one is saying it makes any previously deserved criticism invalid.

“Sheer coincidence that when awful AWFUL PEH came on at halftime, we were much better, had more possession, came from behind twice, and had a handful of chances to go ahead and win.”

Him giving away the ball was pretty awful (but there were a handful other who did the same).

But maybe you should compare the halves again. We were really on the ropes in the first half, and he combined well with Deki, Porro, and Royal several times, playing one-touch football, literally upping the tempo.

What is it with lacking any form of nuance when judging this guy?

Cherry picking much?

1. He didn’t “give the ball away”, he lost it under pressure by the best pressing team in the league, just like nearly all our players did at some point.

2. Apart from those first touches, did he do anything wrong? No, he was composed, added some much needed stability and played some decent through and lobbed passes creating opportunities.
But don’t take it from me, take it from Ange.

I like him, but Ange putting the extra man in there made the difference, not his personal performance.

Now they’ve run out of arguments they’ll turn to “he’s pointing and running weirdly not taking any responsibility. Brace yourself
