If sold, it might be hard to find an upgrade or adequate replacement to replace him, not only because they would be hard to find late in the window, but also if we did identity one they know they have to compete with bentancur and bissouma as first choice? We would likely have to get a youngster (likely immediate downgrade)or find some worldie who reckons they will be first choice?

Do I think we should sell him? No. Do I also think he is beyond being upgraded on? Also no. Some people can’t understand why he gets criticism the same way I can’t understand why Bentancur is not rated by some of our fans - it’s horses for courses I suppose. I’ve always appreciated the technicians as opposed to the blood and thunder type of midfielder. I personally don’t think he should be first choice for us as he is too limited on the ball in terms of beating the press (taking the ball in tight spaces, taking on the half turn and making quick decisions) but I appreciate the qualities he does bring to the squad. I also find the ‘Viking warrior’ stuff really cringey, so if I never had to see another ‘Our Viking’ post again I’d be happy

That being said, selling him would be madness with Skipp’s troubles and he seems like a good dressing room presence. Conte obviously likes him so if selling him would displease him then we should not even consider it
what about "Eric the viking" he was my hero growing up surely that's not cringy! ?

Can't see this happening in a million years.

And it would take ridiculous money and us attaing a very good player to replace him.

Nah...not happening.

DL: knock knock hey Tony can I come in?
AC: sure Danny. Take a seat. Wassup?
DL: we’ve had an enquiry from Real Madrid about Pie….. why are you looking at me like that ? Erm. I think I’ve left the iron on in the board room
AC. Ciao Danny.

If Lloris left I reckon Højbjerg would be our next captain (unless Conte wanted to appease Kane). We should not sell. But if Real Madrid wants him and we will not sell we need to offer him a new contract.

Good game today. Especially in the 2nd half.

His game management was excellent, considering he played nearly 75 minutes on a booking.

He was good, but I don't like it when people on here get on at anyone who says a bad thing about our players. The opportunity today where he was fouled was still a mistake from him as he never seemed to get his head up to see the two players he had on his left. He should've released the ball before the foul.

Not sure I get the love for him today (Jenas gave him man of the match). He gave the ball away numerous times either through poor passes or taking too long to get the ball out of his feet and generally slowed us down too often. Found myself constantly frustrated by him then he did the run that alleviated pressure near the end and I was reminded why he is in there. That run aside, I thought he was poor.

Was poor on the ball today but worked hard and was the most effective presser. Its kind of funny at times because he can be wasteful or not see a pass but he also wins the ball when most wouldn't. You can criticise his final ball but praise him winning it in the first place.

Mixed bag today. Some great defensive work, and some nice exchanges in midfield.

But also slowed us down
and held onto the ball when releasing the ball would of resulted in a gilt edged chance.

Thought him and Bentancur were good again today, esp 2nd half and esp considering they are outnumbered in the middle in almost every game.

Maybe I need to rewatch but I thought he had an amazing second half from my seat in the stadium.

He was really really poor today, people are annoyed that the football is dull but it’s not going to be pretty with him in the team. One of the wolves players went past him like he didn’t exist. That said he does work hard and so has a role but I don’t want him starting, he slows play down and is not very adventurous.

Our best breakaways in the second half came from his forward passes and running with the ball. Yes, he could’ve released Perisic on the edge of the 18, that’s a negative, but he was also clearly fouled. Far better than Bentancur in this game, who weirdly is not getting anywhere near the criticism (not that he should).

i wasn't a big fan of PeH at Southampton, i always wanted to see more of JWP, but ever since he has join us and i get to see him more, i really feel he has grown to be a key member of the team.

Yes you won't see him much, and he usually isn't on the highlight reel, but he works his ass off going box to box, i feel he tends to sit back and cover allowing the slightly younger (and quicker/more agile imo) Bentancur to be the one who goes in and wins the ball.

He also does come up with a crucial goal here and there as well. he is pretty clever with his positioning.

i admit... he is growing on me.
