After all the good work we've done this window we ain't going to get rid of PEH, this is a nothing story.

Harry ruined your forty winks.I think I may have dozed off, must be my age. I had this nightmare where we sold Hojbjerg but kept Winks. Must lay off the cheese.
Agreed, I always feel if he was half a yard quicker and more agile he would be a great but he will always struggle in a two man midfield to cover as much ground as someone like Bissouma and Bentancur can not in terms of distance covered but the ability to make the short sprints quicker than an opponent. Quality player but can definitely be upgraded. As much as I like him(and I do really like him) he is limited compared to our other CM options. It would have to be well above market value though, because of what he brings on top of his football ability.
just going to say I think Liverpool at home was probably the only game he missed last year and one of the only times before bentancur arrived that I saw our midfiled genuinely play well.He reminds me of Carrick, in that the fans would moan about what they don't bring to the team, but when they are not playing you notice the difference and want them back in. A lot of what he does and what Carrick did, is not noticed by the average fan, but as a former goalkeeper it is players like these I use to love being in my team as I could see the work they did off the ball to cut down the channels and stop attacking threats before they became obvious.
People keep saying he's not that good, yet he has been a few times delivering for us scoring crucial goals. Bentancur couldn't do that and yet people wanna him to play more than Hojbjerg. Skipp couldn't do that because he has been injured for so long and yet people wanna him to play more than Hojbjerg when fit. Bissouma still assimilating into the team and yet people wanna him to play more than Hojbjerg right from the season get go.
Lloris, Dier, Hojbjerg and Kane will always be the first 4 in my team sheet whenever they are capable of starting for league game and crucial CL ties, no matter how this is disagreed by some. One leader in each line of the field. I really couldn't ask for more than what we have currently.
Dier and Hojbjerg may not be the best, yes I agree, but to replace them is not a flick of a finger with someone deemed better and it's done. Their leadership, voice in the dressing room and fucking commitment on the field are traits not so easily replaced just by that someone deemed better.
Becareful what you wished for..
So you mean ‘better on the ball’ - not all round? That’s kind of a narrow definitionI see your point, he does seem to get more minutes than any of the others but that might also be because of the style of midfielder he is in terms of his all action style, defensive positioning, breaking up play, leadership etc, Bentancur isn’t as disciplined and is a little more progressive so makes sense to always keep PEH on as he will always give you that stability.
Conte might well see him as very ‘important’ I can’t argue with that but I think in terms of who our ‘best’ midfielder is, well if he gets up to speed then I think it’ll be Bissouma and I think Bentancur is a better player than PEH but because he’s a little more progressive he gets taken off more than PEH.
Tbh I really like PEH, he has so many positives but when I look at Bentancur and Bissouma they make it look a lot easier than PEH and to me that is a sign of a better player.
[/QUOTE]Bentancur can play on the half turn tight up against people. The hardest thing to do as a midfielder. Hojbjerg can play some decent vertical passes when he’s got some time and facing forward but he needs other people to put him in that position he can’t make his own space. Bentancur is more mobile as well. Personally I don’t really care about the odd goal in it. Hojbjerg benefits from the work of Bentancur far more than the other way around imo.
Off the ball I’ve seen hojbjerg dawdling back after someone’s got the other side of him plenty of times that certain other players would of got plenty of shit for so I don’t know where this working his bollocks off has come from that I’ve seen some people say. Maybe it’s his persona and that goes for leadership etc. we have no idea what goes on in the dressing room/training. Waiving arms around on the pitch is not much to go on.
He’s okay, but underrated? No he’s overrated by a lot of Spurs fans it seems
SNAPCould Hojbjerg be the new (not so) Galactico equivalent to Gravesen?
Yes, if you disregard facts, skills, personality and in-game stats. And focus on nationality, he is.He's the new Thomas Gravesen
I disregard anything that doesn't support my argument. That's how we do things around here.Yes, if you disregard facts, skills, personality and in-game stats. And focus on nationality, he is.
