to be honest in hindsight we shouldn't bothered with all 3. We already had Njie who probably would've acted just a good a striker as janssen ie zero impact. Just promoted Edwards/Onomah to be Lamelas understudy who certainly would've done as good of a job as sissiko likely better

And had 59 Million to spend on one real platinum coated player , Isco, Gotze ..sure he wanted to return to BD but that dizzying money will make anyone turn

I know people say we have an overall wage budget rather than player-specific limits, but I really struggle to see how we'd afford the wages of Isco or Goetze even if we had the money, it really doesn't fit in with everything else we hear regarding the contracts our players are on.

Poch has defended him in today's press conference which means he might well have got his head down in training this week.

Wouldn't surprise me if he starts tmrw; Poch's earlier comments would've been designed to get a reaction.

I wouldn't mind seeing him & dembele either side of Wanyama, with Eriksen in the hole & Alli supporting Harry.

"It has been difficult," Pochettino said.
"He signed on the last day, August 31, he goes to France for international duty, without pre-season, he came back, he got concussion, he was suspended for three games, so it was very difficult for him to adapt and fit into the team.
"After two and a half years, all of our players that come with us always struggle to fit and to cope with our pressure at the start.
"Sure, it's not easy for them and he's 27 and with different habits and it's not easy for him, it's not easy for anybody.
"I have been happy with his attitude this week. He trained very hard but it is not a big issue for me. All the players need to understand that we are a 24-man squad. I am the boss."

Would still expect him to make a sub appearance and then start on Wednesday.

Harry Kane has signed like a million contract extensions in a month.
I'm sure he's on a pretty penny probably more than what Gotze was on previously when available

http://www.standard.co.uk/sport/foo...e-only-one-facing-big-questions-a3408646.html

Contrasting briefings are common in big-money deals but those close to the north London club insist Spurs have parted only with around £7m up front for Sissoko. The £30m figure includes a series of add-ons and staged payments inbuilt over the course of his contract.

This is the only relevant part. If they are correct and if the add-ons are significant then we may not have seemingly wasted as much money as we feared.

Otherwise, stage payments or not, the liability is still there and there isn't a chance in hell that another club would be willing to get even close to what we agreed to pay Newcastle.

I think only very few people truly believe that Tottenham committed to paying 30M for Sissoko no matter what. That there is a kind, either this or that, underlying structure in the deal is blatantly obvious. That we don't know all the details, or in truth, any detail, is equally obvious. But to take the leap from not knowing anything to flat out state that "we must pay Newcastle 30M one way or another" makes really no sense.
However, the price tag is really not relevant any longer. It's a crap transfer regardless.

Anyone else get the feeling that when we knew Everton were in for him, we wanted to prove we were the biggest bully in the playground??

I really hope we start winning some games soon so everyone stops taking their frustration out on this guy. Yes he hasn't done much, but thats a little difficult when you don't play. Maybe not the best signing, but fucking hell give the guy at least 10 games where he is a little more use to our tactics/players. Which new signings are absolutely tearing it up in this league right now? It's like we missed on out 10 other amazing players.

Agree with this...the players we missed out on, Batshuyi and Boufal have also done poorly. The only one was Mane and he moved very early in the window.

I just think Levy thought he'd force Newcastle into a cut-price last-minute deal as he's done countless times over the years. The trouble was Everton were genuinely interested & able to compete (with their new investor & tv money) so he had to pay up. We'd left it too late to explore elsewhere (Zaha seemingly the only other option & rebuffed anyway) and needed another player in following a lot of sales.

Being flogged in public for a dodgy work ethic - THE cardinal sin in Poch's scheme of things. Game over for Sissoko. He could well depart in January, methinks.

Another Levy driven transfer deal that backfires spectacularly. He'll never learn

This was the antithesis of a "Levy driven" transfer.

His best cameo in a Spurs shirt. Hopefully the springboard he needs to get his confidence back.
