And I would not really judge a so-called improvement in performance against the likes of Swansea and Barnsley.
If he shines against the big boys then my opinion will be swayed.
While he may stand out as the "best of a bad bunch" in those sort of games, let's not get carried away like he's the second coming...
Do you mean like he did when we beat Man City last season?

What benefit comes from booing and moaning a player at every turn? I'm legitimately curious.
None. Though you could also ask what the benefit is of people cheering at home in front of a game on TV. People showing their emotions.

I agree, though, it's stupid, as it can actually negatively affect the players. I wonder if it ever 'inspires' them to get their act together? If there is a genuinely awful performance, is it warranted then? Not sure.

I just don't get the hate. He had numerous games last season (and some this season) where he contributed positively to us winning. He's hard working, does his best and doesn't create a fuss.

"But I want more for 30 million"

Well fuck off then. Poch wanted him to the degree that we had to pay that amount, he didn't set his own price. As long as he keeps working hard and doesn't disrespect the club Adedayor or BAE style, then I really can't fathom the vitriol he's getting.

None at all. I remain to be convinced that Sissoko was ever worth buying, but when he is picked, I want him to be successful and to have a positive impact on the game. I always want every player to do well and I always want every manager to win every game.

I heard gooners phoning in to TalkShite last season before one of their games saying that they hoped they would lose so that Wenger would get the sack. That kind of thinking is the same as booing your own players or the team. No Spurs fan should ever do it. If they do, you should ask them to remove their shirt to reveal the cannon tattoo on their arm.

He's never gunna be a world beater but he's improving to the extent that he can be a useful squad member and not be a detriment to the team when he plays. He's certainly not been our worst player so far this season

1) Every single Spurs player played a cracker that match, and Sissoko was the least good of the bunch.
2) The fact that a match from nigh 12 months ago keeps getting mentioned as a redeeming point of salvation says it all about how little Sissoko has accomplished.

"But I want more for 30 million"
.
3) The only fans who keep mentioning the price tag are fans who has a pathological need to make it seem like fans who don't rate Sissoko hold the price tag against him. If one can pretend that somebody still is complaining about the price tag, then one can make it seem like the entire critique of the player is dumb and contentless. Fact is, nobody complains about the price any longer. It is what it s.

Problem is I don't think we have other players with the same skilset as Sissoko.

Winks is clearly very talented. Good in possession with an excellent eye for a pass.

Many have said Onomah could have Sissoko's place but Onomah has Winks' attributes, not Sissoko's.

Poch clearly wanted physical midfielders who could drive forward. Sissoko did this again Barnsley in a game when we were yet again playing in a static way.

Onomah is a completely different player to winks.

Onomah is a completely different player to winks.

Winks plays deeper than the 3 attacking mids but not as deep as Dier or Wanyama,

He is an intelligent passer and safe in possession.

Poch has tried playing Onomah further forward but all reports for him in our youth team and different internationals level has him playing deeper than that

Onomah is also an excellent passer who dictates play.

Are they exactly the same? No. But to say they are completely different is simply bollocks.

onomah → dembele & winks → modric?

It’s nit unusual for players to come good in their second season under poch. Dembele, lamella, son for example.

I think sometimes it takes a while for the penny to drop and the player to really buy in to his methods .

Interestingly I think younger players have less trouble getting to this point than more experienced ones.

I feel like some players get to a point where they almost leave the club but then instead go “all in” with poch and I think this could be sissoko now.

If we’d got Barkley he would likely have been sold but that didn’t happen. It’s a World Cup year so he needs to play and basically has no choice but to do everything possible to impress poch and get games for spurs this season.

Plus his mate has arrived and our formation has evolved into something more accomodating of his natural position. It’s all coming up moussa...

I've wanted Sissoko to be a hit since he joined. Last season he couldn't get near the first team because we were so good, so he never got a run of games and when he did play, he looked rusty. This season he has been in the team and is visibly improving with every game. Yet he still gets stick for not tearing it up. I guess sometimes the brain takes time to catch up with what the eyes are seeing. He will score today. Feeling in my bones.

I really don't think he deserves much criticism this season. The odd heavy touch or misplaced pass, but we could say the same about quite a few players so far this season.

It will be interesting to see whether he gets a look in once Wanyama and Dembele are back to full match fitness. My thinking is that maybe he's currently starting to compensate for the physical strength our midfield loses by the absence of those two.

Keep it up Sissoko, playing with much more confidence, pretty obvious why Poch keeps playing him in there - Eriksen must love playing next to him.
