I am not sure I understand Levy`s strategy here with Walker.. If it`s about money we should increase his pay just like we should for the other players who have served us so well. If it`s about relationship then as the manager Poch needs to fix it... If its about moving back up north then promise him a move in a year. As a last resort we do not sell without a top pacy replacement who can rotate with Trippier.

I think I read somewhere "He's burnt his bridges" Maybe KW's forcing it through.

I remember Modric playing up then after being told to stay for one more season got on and played very well.Next season is massive for us we could do without outgoings of Kyle Walkers level. I get it if we get £45 mil and a good replacement but if we relying on Trippier then I would be very disappointed..

Levy and the Sheikh

Levy " You want Kyle walker...Best player in Europe in his position....No problem...."

Now I will tell you what I want......I want De Bruyne, Aguero, and Jesus" in a straight swap we pay 100k per week in our wage structure..you have no such problems so you pay the difference for the entirety of their contract with us and any signing on bonuses"

Or you can have him for 60m plus Etihad do a naming rights, sponsorship deal with us at 150m per annum'for 10 years.....then you can have him with pleasure....Plus of course we want 90% of any sell on fee..."

What do you mean you don't understand speak to Fergie, he will tell you" I'm different..."

Sheikh, "we use vaseline in the desert, it prevents chafing, ...."

Levy " we use money at Tottenham ....It hurts like hell"

As much as I want walker to stay, if he really wants to go and make some big money elsewhere then I won't hold it against him. He's been a good servant of the club for a long time on and off the pitch. It would be a real shame to see him go but Trippier is fast becoming a favourite of mine, one of the best right backs I've seen for us in the final third of the pitch and is improving all the time.

I agree to a point. But Walker has clearly had his head turned at a really inopportune time. The fact that this all kicked off while we were still in with a shout of the title really leaves a nasty taste for me, especially when he'd just signed a new contract at start of season. Keep quiet, talk at end of season. Don't possibly derail the team effort like a massively selfish twat.

Altho does make me laugh that the same papers saying he wants to leave because we don't pay enough called Walker's last contract a 'mega' deal: https://www.thesun.co.uk/sport/foot...ntract-to-stay-at-white-hart-lane-until-2021/

I think maybe he was upset at getting dropped or rotated for the big games towards the end of the season. Maybe he had words with Poch. Poch then has to make a stand. So Walker now considers the other possibilities whilst probably wanting to stay at Spurs - problem is once you start exploring the possibilities elsewhere and one of them is a big pay rise at a club full of superstars (including the manager), that wins trophies, closer to home then it's hard to look away again.

I don't blame him. Sure he didn't lose his shit with Poch and we've all been disgruntled at work at times or feel entitled, rightly or wrongly. We're only human after all. Unlike most of us he's got a massive offer from an even bigger company and it must be tempting. It'd tempt me in a finite career that I've only really got 5 years left in at the top. And he's not even a Spurs fan.

If his head has been turned irreparably then it's difficult to turn it back. It doesn't sound like it has but he's probably thinking about it very seriously. His life is down here, his home, friends, some family no doubt, it's not an easy decision to make. Ditto for the manager and club. Can Poch trust him to be happy to rotate or is he gonna cause disharmony within the group. Will Walker resent not going to City the first time he's rotated in a big game?

None of this is as black and white as it's portrayed and even then all of the above is based on rumour and reading between the lines.

Personally I don't think it'll be the undoing of us but there are potential implications with the rest of the squad seeing this happen and wondering about the future of the project or their futures. If Walker does go it's very important that the club can demonstrate that it has a definite plan to make sure the squad is as strong if not stronger than before. Continuous improvement is very important, not just in actuality but also in visualizing the future of the team to the Kanes, Allis and Diers because while we're strong and challenging they'll commit themselves to the club - once we start to waver then so possibly will they.

I think something happened beforehand, personally. I don't buy the whole 'Poch just rotated the fullbacks like he usually does'. In those 'big' games Rose would have been selected over Davies if he was fit and all as well and Walker would have started over Trippier, that's how it was for the large majority of the season.

I'd be very surprised and would question Walker's attitude if he all of a sudden just wanted out of a club he's been with for so long because he was dropped for a couple of games, regardless of the magnitude of them. But like said I don't think that's the case and something else is at play.

His reaction to being dropped maybe? As you say he was used to playing those big games so maybe he didn't expect it.

Again it's not black and white in the way you portray it and I went to great lengths to demonstrate this. He doesn't just ' want out of the club ' - maybe for the first time he's just considered the possibility and is weighing it all up.

What else do you think is at play here?

If Poch is happy to sell him then that's more than good enough for me.

He won't improve under Pep at all. He'll regress. Mistakes will creep back in and he'll be next seasons version of a John Stones

I think the situation is pretty clear.
Kyle has been with the club since 2009. He has done a great job and been extremely loyal.
He seems now to be looking for a new challenge - which many of us look for in life come time to time.
Perhaps he wants more money for a secure life after football. Maybe he wants to move closer to family and friends.
I doubt very much it's purely a fall out with Poch or the Club as a whole. He still played 30+ PL Games, 3 CL Games and his type of position requires rotation.
At 27 he is arguably at his most valuable price to Spurs. It would make sense to maximise our return and reinvest the money when the player fancies a new chapter too. It would be a shame to sell to a rival BUT if the rival is willing to pay a huge premium then it makes economic sense.
If he goes I wish him the best as he deserves a good luck from us fans.

When the chairman of the club interested in your player(s) comes out and personally says fullbacks are an area we need to and will strengthen then I guess its open season with Levy rinsing them for every penny...

http://www.telegraph.co.uk/football...inted-pep-guardiolas-first-season-coach-will/

“There are particular positions that are clear. You can see the players that are exiting right now, and that will give a clear indication of the positions that are a high priority for us to fill. Full-back is clear both on the right and the left are areas that require investment from our side. Pep relies heavily on that position. The way he plays, and you’ve seen glimpses of that this year, he has a big affinity to that full-back position on the right and the left, and he has a big requirement in terms of the type of players that fit the role he wants for that position. So that’s an area that clearly requires some work and we know exactly what Pep wants.
"More importantly Pep knows what he wants and who he wants. I hope we are successful in bringing in the players he needs."

I bet Levy's already rubbing his hands at reading that.

Possibly yeah, and to be honest I would like for his reasoning for wanting out to be due to some sort of breakdown with Poch as opposed to some sort of strop due to being dropped, I don't think he's like that. As you said it could be his reaction to being dropped but I still personally think the guy has Spurs in his heart. Like I've said before this is the guy that was saying 'Spurs for life' on Instagram live just a few months before the end of the season. It would surprised me if he just simply wanted a change.

All in all who knows though, I think the whole thing is very iffy to be honest!

I love Poch but surely surely this burnt bridges thing could stop him becoming a truly great manager. If someone is the best player in the league in their position what you do is motivate and persuade them to fight one more battle for you?

Wild speculation. We have no idea what's going on.
