I don't mind poor performances as long as he acknowledges it. What I do mind is getting tapped, holding his face as though he has been hurt leaving the opposition to go and score. What I mind is letting De Ligt run away from him at a corner and making no effort to go with him. Poor performances I can accept, a weak mentality I cannot.
Yeah, he looked like a Year 6 kid playing in the park for the De Light goal. I actually blushed with embarrassment when that happened

Yeah, the criticism for him for the final is weird and I can only imagine it's coming from people with an almost neurotic need to apportion blame. I thought he was actually decent. I can't really remember Mane causing us any problems down our right.

I'm just gutted he seems to have lost the ability to cross or pass aggressively, but hey ho. I was harsh to call him terrible, in the heat of frustration, but it's only because I miss what he was for a time and that THAT player would have caused chaos for Liverpool last night.

Trippier of old wouldn’t have made any difference last night as our main threat in the box (Llorente) wasn’t even of the field. It does pose the question with Llorente likely to leave that we need still a target man who’s good with his head but given how the game has changed we still need someone who’s not far off what a ‘prime’ Kane offers.

The problem with restricted players and I mean that in the nicest way possible is that to evolve with the game you need strong attributes eg pace/skill, strength, creativity, huge determination, quick thinking, the ability to adapt to change. Players like Trippier, Dier, Llorente, Davies are all limited and their best simply isn’t good enough anymore. It’s time to replace them with hungry and talented youngsters/ready made quality. Eg Aaron’s, W-B, N’Dombele, Sessegnon etc

Gonna have to disagree with this, I think he's got a strong mentality. The Bournemouth game where he was rallying the players to put a shift in showed that.

He's not a shit, his style of play just isnt compatible for our play. He seems like a good lad, and if he does move on I wish him the best.

I'd say "existed" is the term to use now mate. Haven't seen anything from him for a while (he was a very regular poster) so it looks like he's been driven out.

Would be a shame because, whether people agreed with him or not, he was just defending a player he personally rates. The pack mentality that can come to the fore on here, constantly @-ing him every time Trippier didn't do something they wanted, was pretty unnecessary, in my opinion.

At the end of the day, it's none of my business, fuck all to do with me. I am just a sap & think it'd be a real shame if the site has lost a pretty decent member just because they found it funny to call him out every time Trippier did something that backs up their of opinion of him as a player.
shouldnt feel that sorry for him, he brought a lot of the abuse onto himself. By being a disingenuous pity pompous little arsewipe, that couldnt take a joke nor handle having an honest conversation about Trippier. If he just acknowledged some of Trippier's weakness and faults every once and while, it would have been fine.

He isn't shit at all. People have short memories. He is off form, sure. But his game is about getting up and down the pitch, attacking as well as defending. He was very good in 17/18 and then had a good world Cup in the same roll. Then this season he has been knackered and covering for our weaker center half's.

Playing that wingback position is as hard work as midfield. I think he needs a rest.

I see your point. I still see it as a shame. Yes he didn't acknowledge the bad things about Trippier, but all he was doing was defending the lad with as much passion as those with opposing views were lambasting him.

The difference is he was (largely) alone whilst the pack circled & mauled him.

I just don't like seeing people being constantly goaded, which I personally think was largely the case with Paolo. It's like bullying, which is just a massive bug-bear with me.

But in the interest of parity, he could also have easily used the old "agree to disagree" line, but often opted to fight his corner instead.

I stand by my original point though. It'd be a shame if he's been driven out because he held a minority opinion.

Wasn't there info saying Tripps has been carrying an injury for a lot of the season?? Though if that's the case Pochettino's reluctance to use KWP is truly bewildering.

I've said before it is not about him being a bad player because he isn't, it is about him not being suitable for our game where he cannot take the ball round or beyond a player to put a cross in on the move so when the ball goes out to him the opposition know that is where it stops going forward although when he gets his crosses in they as sweet as you will see anywhere. If you want to know what we want our right back to do you only have to look at Danny Rose on the left. All of that said it shouldn't surprise us as we knew this about him when we bought him, because of his crossing ability as much as anything.

It was bullying, pure and simple. The stick Paulo got/gets was even worse than the scapegoating of Trippier. People claiming it’s ok because he didn’t acknowledge Trippier’s faults need to take a cold hard look at themselves. “bullying is ok if I don’t agree with the person being harassed.” Hmmmm :meh:

Poch clearly doesn’t rate him. He’d have played way more games if he did. Not sure why people keep expecting Poch to change his mind on this one.

My guess would be because when KWP did play, more often than not he got MOTM.
