I think Trippier gets some over the top criticism on here, he is at his best when playing with a three at the back, he needs more freedom and he is NOT suited to a four at the back the way we play. He is not strong enough nor good enough defensively to play thay role week in week out. Perhaps he doesn't have the required fitness as well.

Very few full backs are, walker and TAA are the only two i can think of who can be both an attacking threat and defensively solid and are the level we need.

Aurier is the style of full back we need but has yet to prove that he has the consistency.

Personally I think Trippier would be perfect for the Italian game. I agree with selling him but we really need to lump some serious money on both full back positions.

IMO Trippier has suffered because we've had to play a back 4 so often this season. I think that will be the case going into next season as well because we were often outnumbered in midfield with a back 3. I personally think we'll look at midfield options that allow us to play 433 like our main rivals in which case Trippier needs to be moved on. We need fullbacks who can defend first and foremost IMO and Wan Bissaka definitely fits that model. I think he'll be too expensive for us though with us hopefully prioritising midfield upgrades.

He's been left out of the England squad for the Nation's league finals.

Correct decision. We all know he's had a poor season and the other two right backs have been on a different level.

Might also give us the opportunity to get him off the books asap.

I was thinking this may knock a couple of million off his transfer value.

If £25m is still on the table I’d take the money and run.

Could be good for us in the very short term . Maybe he'll play to a half decent level on Saturday now as Napoli could soon turn into Burnley

Amazing how far his status has fallen since his successful WC last year . We could have flogged him for gawd knows how much then...

Now its circa 25 mill . Quite a crash . Was this fall down to his hubris ?

Is Aurier's end product any worse than Rose's? I don't think it is.

Airier appears to be injury prone so is not the answer. KWP is small and obviously is not in Poch’s long term plans or he would have played more and been on the bench more often.

Trippier
Excels at - pointing his finger and blaming others
Criticism - zero understanding of the concept of defending

Aurier:
Excels at - being injured 24/7
Criticism - kamikaze defender, either decent or damn right crazy

KWP:
Excels at - enthusiasm and going forward
Criticism - too weak and easily bullied

Only one out of this lot and subject to a Bale-esque physical transformation is KWP.

If poch has asked him to play through an injury for most of the season then it just shows how little trust he has in KWP.

You spelt ego wrong.

Grow up.

If you don't rate the guy, fair enough. But you don't know him on a personal level (I assume) & if he had the ego you suggest he has, he wouldn't have been the one player who was constantly urging his team-mates on & keeping them fired up when we were reduced to 9 men against Bournemouth.

Players with ego's, such as Pogba, Hazard & co would think such things are beneath them.

He's been carrying an injury for most of the season.

Makes you wonder why he wasn't given opportunity to rest and KWP wasn't given a run at certain points this season. Is it the same groin injury he got vs Croatia then he was played vs Belgium.

Good on Southgate for picking players based on form rather than reputation and past tournaments.

Hopefully it's the kick up the arse he needs as there's every chance he's starting on Saturday.

Yep I'm sure it's a groin strain as that has been stated in past.

It really is utterly bizarre we've been constantly playing him rather than trusting KWP and allowing Trippier to get over the problem, be it via op or whatever method is best to treat it.

You grow up other man on the internet. If you can't see how his ego changed after the world cup in the way he played, creating numerous mistakes and then trying to point and bollock other players, you've not been watching him that closely.

Also, humour.

Good day. Sir.
