I think we have to sign a right back. Aurier has to go. Then we much decide if Walker Peters is going to develop into a top player. If the answer is yes, have him as second choice, sell Trippier too. If the answer is no, keep Trippier (as he's a perfectly serviceable second choice right back) and let Walker Peters go somewhere that will give him games, because at this point in his career he'll stagnate without them. Worked a treat for Adam Smith.

Have we really seen enough to know this?

Trippier has to go, just has to go, mate he has to go. I rather Aurier any day

I thought that Aurier would step up and with a run of games prove to be a solid RB. However, he is ALWAYS injured and we can't go into another season with question marks over certain players.

I think we'd really reap the rewards of ditching both Aurier and Trippier for £40-50m and throwing that money at AWB or another dynamic RB and putting KWP as the understudy.

I personally haven't seen enough to know he's worth taking up a squad place. Same argument works both ways.

Perhaps. Either way, I think a top quality right back is necessary, and hopefully KWP is up to being a viable rotation/ second fiddle option.

Err vvd was not a gamble at all Liverpool knew exactly what they were buying as did everyone elae. It's not even remotely a comparable situation.

I would be delighted with the acquisition of AWB. A big outlay but the type of move that would be smart for us. Similarly Chilwell on the other side of the pitch

FIgured he'd be off to Everton or a team like that. Never expected Italy to be a likely destination for him.

HG issue is the only thing Trippier has over Aurier. But I'd rather we sold both and used KWP as backup to AWB or who our new RB might be.
I think tripper has had a poor season, but he was much better last. So the question is is it an off season or was last a real purple patch? As for KWP I really fear for him tbh. Only my opinion but at his age he has to be playing. Pochs clearly not convinced or he'd have played more, bit MP in recent games has played Fourth over him as well. Bring in WB or the like and he may as well pack his bags, cos he won't be getting any game time.

This is the thing though, where have you seen AWB to be a dynamic wing back? A good defending full back yes, but going forward we've seen next to nothing this far.

I agree that due to the team he plays for, he rarely gets into the opposition half. He's quick and does look technically gifted though, so hopefully Poch would be able to work on his attacking game.

He'll probably go to City anyway for +50 mil. though, so I guess it's not even worth discussing.

Couldn't it be argued that may be down to his marching orders with CP?

That's why Atal looks so appealing

Yeah, I wouldn't mind keeping him as second choice, but if KWP is ever going to break through, this is the time. Doesn't look too good, though, with Foyth currently being preferred by Poch.

KWP has looked average going forward and defending under pressure for England U21's poor.
He must get a loan next season.

I've stated this before, but the sort of WB/FB that is the unspoken benchmark for every negative post on our present WBs/FBs, that hypothetical player almost does not exist. Throughout the entire continent, there is only very, very few FBs every season that truly are at the level that people would like to see for Spurs, and fetching one of those players is virtually impossible for Tottenham Hotspur. Our FBs aren't breathtaking, but they are at a decent and realistic level for a top 4 club, and actually not easy to upgrade on. Presently, it is possibly to find younger FBs who might become better in the future, or it is possible to find FBs who are better at one or two features, but they are going to be very expensive. You are not going to find the complete package this summer readily available for a move to Spurs. The modern FB is a very hard position and is judged very harshly, and in light of that I'm happy with Trippier. All that being said, at the end of the day I'd welcome new FB(s) this summer, but I do advocate some level-headedness in this debate.

I think that's a fair assessment. But like others are stating, is that because of who he plays for and restriction on his game.

Another one I like the look of is Aarons. Think he has that raw ability that Poch could tap into.

IIRC he has some of the best dribbling stats in the league for 1-on-1 situations so the talent is there to be developed. It’s irrelevant though as he’ll end up at a money club.

Haven't seen that much of Atal, but what I have his defending doesn't look that good. It's Trippier's inability to defend that pisses me off most of all and what he does going forward is occasionally a bonus.
