Vicarios been the find of the season for me so far, and given the ages keepers can play till, I’d say this is still very much early days of just how good he can be as well.

Someone said in the Arsenal thread Rice has been the signing of the season.

For over a 100 million ? Nah....not for me.

I mean Maddison would be right up there had he not got injured.

But for 17 million, Vicario is absutely the signning of the season so far.

Yep value for money Vicario has to be signing of the season so far, as you say Maddison or even VDV would've been up there if they'd stayed not injured.

Rice has been an incredible signing for Arsenal to be fair but at £100mil he'd never win 'signing of the season'.

I think it's horses for courses personally, but I do think far too much emphasis is being put on being able to play out like an outfield player. I'm not bothered if Vic can't ping a ball 40 yards to the wings as long as he's calm whilst being pressed and keeps the ball out of the net. I also think Ange's philosophy is quite different to Peps in that I think Ange wants us to play through the middle under pressure in order to draw players in create spaces in behind the pressing players to create overloads that way. pep draws them in and Ederson is then able to bypass them over the top and to the full backs. Newcastle are just more direct. All 3 systems work in their own way and are effective.

It's still the case for me though that my keepers primary attribute should be shot stopping, and that's why I'm happy with Vic over the other 2 mentioned.

Its a correction of the deficiency keepers have for an age had - being totally crap with their feet.

Now being terrible with your feet and being a good "keeper" isnt enough, and why wouldn't you demand both at the developmental age? In 20 years time a keeper whos bad with their feet wont exist at the top flight and theyll be great in all the other aspects of being a keeper also.
