We have unbelievable depth with the signings. I think the first XI would look something like a diamond with Winks at the base, Sissoko and Ndombele on sides and Eriksen at the top with Dele/Son up there with Kane. Having options to mix and match our XI plus change things up off the bench are things we havent had the luxury of and we would now. Not so fussed on who goes from starting 85% of matches to 70% because we play so many these days, we need more quality and there are chances to go around for playing time.

I really hope not. It just doesn’t seem to get the best out of our players.

Im more excited for this transfer then Ndombele! And if we can keep CE, it will be even better! I know I shouldn't be... But I'm highly optimistic this season!

That Daily Hotspur Twitter account is fucking bollocks. They @ L'Equipe in their tweet, but just having a look at the L'Equipe Twitter now there's absolutely nothing about Fekir's move bringing a transfer of Lo Celso to Spurs closer, not even in the latest article posted by L'Equipe about the Fekir transfer.

Now the Daily Hotspur probably aren't wrong - I imagine that Fekir moving to Betis will be a catalyst for bringing Lo Celso to Spurs - but it's disingenuous bullshit to imply that L'Equipe are running that line at the moment.

Fuck this clickbait-y Twitter account, is what I'm trying to say.
Awww don't be like that babes

The way I see it, signing a player like Lo Celso increases our quality + squad depth. The more quality in depth we have, the more competitive we will be across the board and thus more likely to win things. Winning trophies is the final step we need to take to be considered amongst the elite clubs IMO, and will only benefit us as we move forward to attract and retain top talent.

If he is indeed coming in as reported (and we keep Eriksen) then I am very excited.

I was thinking this earlier.

We've bought Ndombele from Lyon for a pretty large fee.
Lyon are now selling Fekir to Betis for a low price
Betis have in turn dropped their price for Lo Celso to come to us.
The sell on % going to PSG may well be used to sign Rose from us.
Doesn't feel like it's just Levy to me you need someone to finesse these deals.

Also GLC has third party ownership and I don't think we have ever pulled off a deal when a player has third party ownership. But this one seems to be moving along

If we assume that both Lo Celso and Ndombele make our first eleven, who misses out? I'm all for squad depth, but we're going to be in quite a new position (if this goes ahead) of having big name players on the bench

Good question. Looking at squad usage (starts/appearances/minutes), and assuming Toby and Eriksen both stay, it would be as follows:

- we rode our luck on Eriksen last season and overplayed him - even being a key player his minutes/starts should reduce to a more healthy level

- either Wanyama sold, or Skipp loaned out (or both)

- Alli reducing minutes/apps due to not being played in sub-optimal positions

- Sissoko being less heavily relied upon at CM and being rotated a bit more frequently

- Dier covering for CB as well as CM (as Foyth gets used at RB)

That just about does it.

We played it against Everton away and won 6-2 and ran riot. We also played it against city at home in the league and although we lost we really deserved to win and limited them to few chances. With the right personnel it can work very well and it negates a 4-3-3 very well which as we know lpool and city play so this diamond could be the kryptonite to their 4-3-3’s. I think 3 at the back rarely worked last season apart from Dortmund at home it flopped hard but that was mainly due to personnel availability 3 at the back was almost forced on poch. If our main tactic is a diamond with the players we have no + say lo celso and sessengon I think it will suit us very well.

You are falling into the lazy journalist trap if you believe last season was a realistic representation of where we are as a club right now. Due to injuries/suspension/fatigue/small squad we were a spent force for almost the 2nd half of the season, but managed to summon up enough effort to get us to CL final (driven by the desire to play in the final of course) and get enough points in the league for top 4 purely because the new stadium opening gave us that extra bit of energy for a short period of time for us to get the required points on the board. The last couple of months were bad and make up a large percentage of your stat, but we were effectively finished, run dry, done. That is not the real Spurs, and won't be repeated this season.

I agree with the sentiment of your post but we made top 4 due to Arsenal making an even bigger hash of their run in than we did

Fekir to Betis for £20m, Lo Celso for £45m, we give Rose to PSG for a nominal fee compared to what we were originally looking for and PSG wave the sell on % owed to them for Lo Celso meaning less pressure on GLC, the money Betis were looking for and Rose gets his pay day. Calling it now
