The difference between this window and the last 2 is that we have actually made a bid for lo celso.
well there’s hope then!
our problem in the past has been in not making an offer that is acceptable and we’ll see, i guess, when we have an offer accepted and we purchase. the reality will remain to be seen until we sign good players. i hope we have turned a corner and if an offer is accepted, then we will know for sure.

Glad we're getting in early again before he joins another club and his value increases.
If you ask me, we are coming in at the perfect time. Proven a lot but still just about in our price range.

Another good season and at his age he's over £100m.

Maybe Levy's not wasting his time in Spain, if he drives back through France we can bank on getting Ndombele.:)

Here's hoping, mate. I just get tired of us waiting too long for players like this and ending up having to pay over the odds. I'm sure we were linked last summer as well and for a fraction of the price.

At the end of the day I guess it doesn't matter, as long as it doesn't affect our budget and our ability to sign other targets as well.

Yeah we've just got to hope the supposed interest from Man Citeh isn't genuine. Or if it is, the lad fancies actually playing each week for a decent wage, rather than sitting on a bench for a ridiculous one.

bit odd to just bid 60m out the gate. am guessing there's already been some talk about what's fair/agreeable and i don't doubt we're far off it, maybe just the structure that's putting a hold on it at present.

would be some statement if we can nab both him and ndombele, as i think is our aim.

I seem to recall seeing that Betis wanted a different structure than what we were offering, so you may be right.

"BBC just reported the Lo celso new bid of 54 mill. understand that has been rejected. Betis holding out for 60+janssen Confident it will go through now. Eriksen is on the go"

Thats a claim from twitter

I know the person representing Janssen. There has been no contact with Betis.

I can see that the FFP sabre rattling has had the desired effect then. That's about 300m worth of players they're meant to be after.

Giovani Lo Celso will be due a pay rise should Real Betis reject the reported €60M bid from #thfc for the midfielder owing to clauses in his contract. [Radio Sevilla]

Tottenham used to get a new contract you say?

In all seriousness, I'm optimistic we can pull this off. We'll no doubt come back with a second bid - feels like €70m gets this done.

Like who?

I would love to see the list of players who had 10+ goals and 15+ assists this season.
It may be the case that we might lose some of that to gain something else. In an ideal world we keep him and buy another player.

For me, Eriksen lacks dynamism and the ability to beat a player. It's the difference between him and coutinho or de bruyne.

Eriksen is an elite level player, there is no doubt about it. But we need to either keep him and add other qualities or replace him.

I genuinely hope he signs a new deal and stays at spurs for another 4 or 5 years. But we definitely need to add more dynamic creativity to the team.

Being friends with a few United fans they seem to not take every rumour and create multiple pages in threads about them.
They seem to trust a few journo’s who keep them on the right track on where their genuine interest lays.

I think it's less using Tottenham for a new contract and more intelligence from his agent to give Celso some bargaining power in pushing for a move that isn't the usual refusing to train, being 'injured', etc. Everyone knew when Betis finalized the buy it was for a sale and if Betis couldn't find the price they wanted then smart to give Celso some of the money he would lose on a new contract with a bigger team.

He doesn't have to have pace because he thinks and sees the game quicker than everyone else. Coutinho can stand there and do step overs while Eriksen has already played the through ball.

Coutinho is so absurdly overrated because he can hit a long shot. He is not the passer Eriksen is. De Bruyne is the only pure #10 type in the world I rate over Eriksen.

So I've done the YouTube scouting, looks impressive. He looks very direct and decisive. He resembles Lamela on a good day.
So for those of you that have seen him play, is he a better prospect than we thought Lamela was going to be? I seem to remember a lot of excitement around Lamela's signing. Whilst Erik does have endearing qualities, I'd struggle to argue he has been a good signing.

Lamela’s time here has been ruined by injury issues tbf. He clearly has the talent, he’s just never really been able to consistently perform.
