The problem we have is that if you want to make Bale work in your team consistently to where he can be more than a flat track bully then you need a Liverpool style midfield which works ridiculously hard. We haven't built a midfield for that, we also don't play the type of RB which can handle the Bale being the player that is expected to be their cover.

We need to make sure the new manager feels they can make the most of Bale and we need to make sure we have a system which protects the team from his shortcomings. If it were me, I'd go 4-3-3 and have Lo Celso on the right side of that midfield being the one who doubles up with the fallback and allowing Bale to drift inside. As I say though there's a lot of different parts we need to get to function together. I thought Mason finally twigged that he needs to decide between Bale and Dele in my opinion. If we could work a system where they're the two players competing for a spot, we'd be in a healthy position I reckon.

Agree it is, but just a reminder that our fanbase isn’t exactly angelic when it comes to treatment of players

Oh 100%, we're not great at all, but I like to think we'd never treat a player who did nothing wrong except be private with a bit more respect. I understand why people are angry at Harry (though I won't wish him harm or anything like that), but what did Gareth do to earn that vitriol from Madrid fans and media outside of being private and having some injuries? Guy was a model professional and won trophies for them by himself. They are beyond entitled!

Absolutely. Bale’s biggest ‘crime’ was he wasn’t Ronaldo

Absolutely 100% it. But fuck me no one will ever be good enough for them if that's the bar they measure players against haha!

It also winds me up that Bale is seen as such a pariah and Hazard has done everything possible to fuck up his time at Real and is still not treated as badly as Gareth is/was.

If Kane goes, I hope Bale replaces him as our starting striker. If we were able to put the Kane money towards a player like Grealish (though unlikely, it's more likely than us attracting a world class striker), then Son and Bale would score bag loads. Our creative players are average imo. A player to fill the void left by Eriksen would pay dividends for Bale and Son. Loads of the best teams play without an old fashioned number 9. With Bale and Son we don't have to either. The top scorer at each to the top 3 clubs wasn't a recognised striker. Bale should replace Kane (assuming he goes) and we replace Bale with a more creative player.

If he doesn't stay in Madrid I can't see anyone pay his wages. I can only see him staying with us on the same terms with Madrid paying a chunk of his wages.

Yeah I think he'll be back. He can't say he'll be back before the new manager approves it or anything like that. he caused so much shit last time he said anything about his future so its just not worth it for him to say anything until its done.

In his interview he said "I know where I'll be" next season not I know where I'm going.
I'm sure we'd have heard of any likely negotiations with other clubs if that was on the cards so you have to think he's talking about Madrid or Spurs. The only other option may be China or MLS but their seasons don't synchronise with his international wishes, he's got the Euro's this summer but people forget about the world cup next year and he's going to want to be up to snuff for that.

Got goosebumps thinking about Bale staying with us for another season. I just love watching him play and anytime he’s on the ball. He’s like a movie star you can’t wait to see.

Please don't take this as me being pedantic, it's not my intention. But I really thought about his words yesterday and he said "I know what I'm doing". So it was neither where he is going or where he will be.

To me, as radical as it may seem and as some have suggested, it could appear that he is thinking about hanging his boots up. The "causing chaos" line would possibly add to that idea.

I hope to God that I'm wrong and that he does stay with us because he is still an immense talent and it was an amazing feeling to get him back again. I think it's actually criminal the way José treated him as by wasting his obvious talent this season, he deprived us of our best chance of a top 4 finish in my opinion. Bale's stats clearly back that up.

I think Bale will be with us next year, and i think in part that's because he's been told who the manager is, he can't say i will absolutely be here next year as it would raise the obvious question that maybe he knows who the manager is and that the manager has said he is wanted, that would cause the "media chaos"?

Strange how we talk of Bale merely in terms of the next year. After that he is a free agent, he could be with us for the next 3years if we signed him and he was happy.
