He was better second half but first half, like many others, he was shit... the whole team was shit in the first.

In all honesty I would play him against the big boys away from home and would certainly play him against Shitty - his pressing from the front is great and helps us no end.

Lamela was poor yesterday. A lot of our players were poor. One thing that him and Sissoko should get plaudits for was that, despite being pretty crap on the ball throughout, they really put a shift in for the entire game and both created goals with their hustle and bustle. Sissoko actually picked a nice pass at the end of his bustle (unless it was another shot of course!).

But how long do you give it, he has had 2 good months in 6 years here, the final month in the 2015/16 season, when the team had basically given up after Leicester had all but secured it, and he was only one that kept going to the end, and then one month at beginning of last season.
The rest of the time he has been average to poor, or injured

He's useless but has cult like following From some, 75 percent on Twitter can see the physically weak slow brained show pony Lamela is.

I think the problem with Lamela is what he looks capable of compared to what he delivers.
Most players give you a sense of their ability and their ceiling.
For me, Lamela looks like he can do it all yet he doesn't quite manage to, but he does enough to make me think that next time he will.
After all this time I still believe he can, when statistically I should have given up long ago.

You got some statistical evidence to back that up?

:ROFLMAO: Someone on an Internet forum hating Lamela because they are a ‘winner’...

That said he’ll never be more than a squad player for where we are now, but he’s a perfectly decent squad player for a top team. If he can stay fit enough to be useful.

Lamela is one of those players that is great to call on from the bench and give the occasional start. If he was a regular he would frustrate the hell out of us

Yes he had a bad game but it was due to the tactics. Playingbatbhe front of a diamond meant he had no space as he was too close to our forwards. Once we changed formation he had more space and picked more passes.

I think he must be an unsellable due to a past injury!
I can think of very little other explanation.

He can't execute because he ain't clever enough to make the necessary space to do this.
Ok let's just agree you disagreed with my whole original post then shall we? Maybe you could have added this to your original gripe at the first message where you just claimed he isnt very good because he had no pace? My opinion hasn't changed I still consider him a nearly player as in he nearly does it well enough but isnt quite cute enough to pull it off so I just think his execution is poor but still think the idea of what he is trying to is usually good

The curious case of Erik Lamela, can’t fault his effort but really off you look at it, he is just squad filler. He certainly isn’t ANYTHING like the player we thought he was going to be. Nice guy obviously but would much rather a youth player got his role TBH. He Bastard Sons of Lamella will surely disagree.

I can't think of a player that has ever split the fanbase like Lamela.

I also find it fascinating that certain posters can't voice their opinions without having a dig at people who might have a difference of opinion.

My onions? Hard working, tenacious and capable of the sublime. Unfortunately the sublime is too infrequent for him to be considered a starter. Great option to have off the bench or to give others a rest. If, and as we all know it's a BIG if, he can remain fit then I have no issue with keeping him as capable back up to those that play in the 3 behind Kane.

@kaz Hirai i can feel your rage from here :ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO:, it amuses me. Please feel free to disagree but at least fucking explain it.

He was signed as a creative goal scoring attacking midfielder. What am I missing?
