His reluctance to use his right foot really does make my shit itch at times. There were occasions today when he lost valuable time on the ball trying to get his body around to play a pass with his left, when a simple pass with his right was on.

How fucking bad must a professional footballers weak foot be for him to outright refuse to use it?

I'm a Lamela fan, but I can fully understand why some people aren't.

Agreed
His right foot is quite good, he needs to trust it more.

Lamela offers a few different options to anyone else at Spurs. In the limited spells we've seen of him when he's fit, he can pick a pass, run at defenders with a decent bit of skill (wish he had two feet though), presses hard, has a niggly streak (bit like DR and Alli). IF he stays injury free, he will be an awesome asset to us this season.

Against Villa, he was shackled by a crap midfield shape in the first half, but second half, like the rest of the team, looked heaps better.

Pretty much showed why he's such a good player for us. He created some of our best chances and his tenacity and work rate was ultimately a huge reason why we won the game. If you don't understand football, you won't get it, and if you haven't got it by now, you never will.

I acknowledged the winner. But FFS after 6 years and one game he's not the player we thought we were getting.
Yet you fail to look at yourself and just blame the player. The problem is with your expectations, not with Lamela. If you don't see all the good things he brings and are just fixated on the fact that he was supposed to be this inside forward who was going to bang in 15 goals a season then that's a problem with your analytical capabilities.

Terrible today, I wish we could get rid of him, how he's survived so long and gets payed so much is astonishing.

Oh mate what have you done. No you cant say that in here. I learned the hard way 3-4 yrs back. But i see you're new in these parts. Judging by the ratings "they" have been kind.

Lamela as a member of the squad has his role. Frustrating at times but which player isn't. Even Kane/ Dele etc have their monents. He dispossessed Grealish and helped set up the goal for Kane i think. Im happier having Lamela available and contributing than having him injured.

"Supposed to be a 30 million dollar player"

That literally means nothing. What is a 30 million dollar player? What does it look like?

It's just a garbage mode of assessment usually coming from people whose understanding of the game is so bad that they have no other criteria by which to measure a player. Why don't you look at what he brings, and doesn't bring, instead of just analysing him under this nebulous idea of him being a 30 million dollar player? WHy don't you look at the creativity and tenacity he brings in his role? Why are they not attributes of a "30 million dollar player?"

well you just want to be insulting because you feel threatened by something but what he brings is roughly 4 goals and 6 assists a year.

LOL threatened and insulting.

I see you've got absolutely no response at all to any of my questions, as I suspected.

Plus moments like today's which are neither goals or assists, but which are vital for important goal scoring opportunities that ends up winning us matches. If Lamela doesn't make that takeaway, we probably wouldn't have won today.

You should have realized during his first days under AVB that Lamela wasn't the Bale replacement some were expecting, but during his six years here he has proven to be an important part of the squad that has a lot to contribute. Pochetino hasn't even tried to get rid of him, there's a reason for that.

His performance underlined why he should not be a regular started. He destroys far too many potentially good moves by not releasing the ball soon enough and/or running into blind alleys.
