The prince of shithousery, love him to bits. Hard to pick the stand out Lamela-esque moment of his stay. Expertly sandwiching his arse between the ball and the swinging Liverpool boot to earn us that last minute penalty in front of the kop is definitely up there. But for me peak Lamela was when he threw in a few roll overs whilst dribbling along the edge of our own box in the dying seconds of the Ajax semi final: I, and I suspect a few million others almost passed out. As usual, his face just registered an innocent ‘What??’

Oh, and an underrated player too. Good luck.

Love Coco, his attitude has always been top notch, he has true grit. So sad that his injuries have held his career back so much as I think without them he’d have been top class. Good luck to him if he goes to Sevilla and hopefully we see him back at the lane as a coach or ambassador or what have you in the future.

i got used to him will miss the how long will it take for him to get booked when he came on as sub - goes into he was alright category worth a clap when he comes back at half time in a few years time ultimately replacing Bale was an impossible mission - one of the most one footed players we have ever had

Love the “no look stamp” as well as many other shithousery moments amongst some good football as well, shame about injuries as we all know but wish him the best, and look forward to a few in-house anicdotes being leaked out when he has left..

Right time for both parties I think .... thanks Erik????????

A shithouse. But he was our shithouse. Wish him the best. He was, like all of us here, absolutely fully COYS.

That's a great Twitter thread. Three goals. A nutmeg. A stamp. A wind-up. A ridiculously over-exaggerated reaction. Two bad tackles. And the theft of a water bottle.

Truly, we will never see his like again.

All the best, Erik.

Right time for him to leave I think. Love him though, sad he never reached his full potential here.

That Ajax moment will stick with me forever. 95 mins of pure heart ache then to ecstasy & tears and he decides to do rollovers around his own box with a few seconds left. Absolute mad man, summed him up.

Go well Erik.

great posts regarding his value to the club. I would also add that he was one of the few players who would come on the pitch and change everyone's intensity level. His attitude was infectious on many occasions

Good luck to Lamela. Didn't particularly rate him, but you could never question his attitude or worry whether he would be motivated for a game or not. He should have the Rabona renamed after him.

I don't get this view point. Lamela was one of the best technically gifted players at the club. How many can score rabonas? It's a seriously hard skill. It wasn't his ability, nor his passion or effort, just his body breaking down.
Ok cool. Let's keep him for his ability to pull off a rabona three times a decade.

Lamela is the shithousery connoisseur’s favourite shithouse, he doesn’t get the credit he deserve for his services to shithousing. A master of the sly dig, just 1 red card (which, ironically, was never a red) is a true testament to his abilities and cleverness in this regard

Love his nasty streak, love his competitiveness, love his penchant for a rollover and a robona and loved his ability to play a through ball (when he released the ball that is). If he had that extra half yard of pace, and made more consistent decisions he could of been one of our greats. Good luck Coco!!

Squirrel eyes.

Love him to bits. I also feel sorry for him as well. As I believe has/had so much talent. But his pro career has been a series of stop and start injuries. Some of which were very serious. But he kept plugging away. And nearly any time he was on the field, he was committed and dedicated to the cause. One of a small hand-full of players from the last two seasons, that you could count on in fox hole.

I hope that if he leaves to Seville, that he enjoys a few seasons of being injury free, and make a name for himself in La Liga. No one deserves it more than him. He's worked so, so, so hard to keep coming back, time and again, from injuries. No idea if it's just his body and the way he plays that proffers so many wounds, or just bad luck. I just hope he can play pain free toward the back end of his career.

Great servant for the club. I will definitely miss him, should he leave.

Still one of my top 5 favourite moment in the last 10 years. Coco I will miss him. I just loved his passion for the club. Sadly injuries impacted him.
