I have so much more confidence and relax watching him play now. Day and night. Just shows how much confidence can do to a player. So glad he peak at such a crucial timing.

BTW, did he/his admin really compile his own highlights? ?

After my negative comments on Thursday night, today I though he was very good. Fair play, looks like he cares and that, I love.... Welcome Emerson.

The case has always been that he's a capable Premier League fullback but an incapable Premier League wing back. Same can be said about Reguilon.

For that reason I'm sure both will have plenty of suitors and will probably be moved on this summer.

He'd be fine as a RB and potentially at RCB, but unfortunately doesn't have the offensive quality for a WB, which many people have already pointed out.

Yeah, his crossing is just so poor. He's been better lately, definitely pushing further forward but I just don't think he's good enough.

I notice lately, Kulu has been playing more on the side, with Emerson tucking in. Which seems to suit Emerson's game more.

As for the other side, Davies seems to be playing like a CB cum WB at times, with Sess also moving in.

New tactics?

I noticed a slight difference too - well especially Lucas' position at the start of the second half. I've never seen him hug the touchline so much. Maybe this was instruction to stretch the pitch even more and drag Burnley defenders wider.

He's doing fine at the moment but let's not kid ourselves that we don't need a RWB who can consistently put good balls into the box.

His positioning is getting better in general. He got in some excellent positions in the box against Arsenal in particular and very nearly scored (along with screwing up another chance or 2).

Much like Reguilon, he lacks composure and is a poor finisher, though. I reckon if you gave him and Doherty the same 10 chances in the box Doherty scores 3, while Royal is lucky to get one.

He seems to be quite an awkward guy to go up against as physically he has some very useful attributes. Has good strength, a good engine and is quite determined. Think he is pretty handy in the air as well. Yes not got express pace but no slouch either

After losing Doherty, feared the worst having to rely on Emerson and the Brighton and Brentford games seemed to be proving those fears right however to be fair to him he has come back well.

It's a shame his game in the final 3rd lets him down. Don't know if he stays or goes in the summer but I think he may well have a fair bit of interest in him as think he can certainly do a job for a lot of teams.
I think he could be a type of player
simeone would like a good defender who has potential but lacks attacking attributes that spurs need from their wingbacks.

He was never as bad as he was made out to be earlier in the season. He’s solid and you can generally rely on him. He’s not what we need in that position though, so I suspect he’ll be moved on in the summer even if it’s just a loan.

still id rather shift 30 year doherty than 23 year old Royal. I'd Keep him as a defensive option if it was only a case of selling one and not both
Doherty trying to defend against mane and the like would be the stuff of nightmares if the number one WB were injured

He is the first player to run over to protect a teammate in a scuffle, jump on someone after scoring, poses for pictures regularly with fans etc.

He may not be a solution to our fullback problems, but he is a cracking guy at the very least and that shouldn't be forgotten.

He's only 23, so perhaps his end product can still improve, but for now he's definitely better as a RB than a RWB. Wouldn't be the worst player to have on the bench next season when we're protecting a lead.
