There were other top clubs interested in him. We are the best team in the prem who plays wing backs and don’t have a top RWB at the club.

He's what we want and I think we went in hard and fast, with him anyway even if we hit the buffers with the Boro chairman.
I believe he nailed his colours to our mast early on

He was linked with Utd, Chelsea and Arsenal amongst others earlier in the year.

Thing is Spence, Emerson and Doherty all bring something different to the table. Emerson is good if you play compact defensive football when you're pinned back. Doherty is good at making inside runs and good in the air. Spence also has the height but not sure of his aerial ability , he does offer flat out pace on the outside though. The only thing missing is great crossing which Perisic gives on the left, but we will often pull balls back and slide strikers in.

Dortmund were definitely after him, and they're a pretty good spotter on young, English talent, considering the development of Sancho and Bellingham

This guy makes a really good point. Spence crossing needs work but he's excellent at getting in behind for low cutbacks etc and he's pretty good at those.

need another midfielder who can play the pass before the assist though don’t we? Our midfielders could do it but I’d prefer someone more adept.

Yeah I know Forest fans who are absolutely enamoured with Spence, think he's easily the best player in the league, etc. I think this is a really good signing.

The funny thing is I think Lo Celso is really good at this, if you watch his Betis highlights he almost made Firpo's career with the number of times he slipped him through.

I think we need 5 WBs minimum for the new season to cope with the workload and injuries. Think we'll sub both WBs in most games.
