My older self would do the same. Nothing beats a bit of snide. I'm not the Buddha.

I think you might be taking it a wee bit too seriously. Who gives a shit really.
Just a bit of fun and it wasn't particularly offensive.
Unless the kid was a right twunt, if I was Warnock I'd right back, "I'm glad you proved me wrong, make sure you don't prove me right during the rest of your career, all the best"
Look, I'm not excercised about this. At all. All I'm saying is I couldn't have countenanced doing this sort of thing when I was still playing, and I'd be a bit wary of coaching a player now who reacts to criticism in this way. As I referenced in a previous post, there may well be a bit of a generational gap as to my reaction to how he has put this out there. But I'm not really enthused by players going out of their way to call out a previous manager, especially when it's unprompted (opposed to in an interview with press, for example).

But fuck it, maybe it's no big deal and he goes on to have an amazing career with us. I hope so. Ultimately, I'm a bit uncomfortable with how this might be seen by Conte. But as always, time will tell.

For all those banging on about attitude, Jermain Defoe handed in a transfer request the day after West Ham went down.

Look at the man now and the career he’s had (both on and off the pitch). Exemplary on both counts - but that particular act was youthfully petulant; and it certainly didn’t define him.

Different eras and not really comparable. Asking to leave in a legal yet disloyal way is very different to publicly calling out a former manager.

As I said not invested really, but that's a terrible comparison.

And the quotes he's responding to Warnock says he isn't good enough ability wise to make it?

Edit: are they these quotes?

Because if so I still think he's acting like a brat.
I used to be his head of year... He had the worst attitude back then and it sounds like he still has it.

True, I don't think we should rule him out purely on this, but I still think it was an ill advised post.

It demonstrates a strong level of immaturity, but I hope he stamps it out for the good of his career, whether he comes to us or not.

“A legal but disloyal way”. Ha. He was a kid being a twat in a very public way - which was the exact view held at the time by everyone.

Don’t see what makes it a “terrible comparison”, aside from it detracting from your view.

OMDZ?
Some of you lot are so morally pure. I know quite a few footballers who would make Spence look a saint. And we have one here. If Conte Likes and wants him, that is fine by me, and should be for the rest of us. Cut the kid some slack.

Who's to say that if Warnock had not treated Spence how he did that Spence would not have made it as a professional footballer. Spence clearly now has big desire to prove Warnock wrong, and that is sometimes a good thing. I bet when he is older and wiser Spence will reflect on this and acknowledge that Warnock gave him the kick up the backside and motivation that a 21 year old him needed.

Spence is 21 year old - still quite raw & young in mind & body.

Has there been any issues noted in Spence regarding his off field manners - drinking or partying ? Or is it all just him sulking in training due to lack of opportunities under Warnock ? If its just later, why is it a issue ?

Him mocking Warnock now - Have to say, his tweet came across as funny tone to me, rather than him being arrogant....

Boro & Forest fans have completely different thoughts when it comes to him. We have seen so many such young players who didnt mature late into 20s...
We have Grealish, who is still acting like an imbecile - but am sure, many here wanted him or still wants him...

At the very least, Spence has gone out & did Warnock said he cannot do - so there is certain drive with him. I think player like him has the capability to do well in larger clubs with better experienced players around him.

Exactly, he might be a prick.

But basing it off Neil Warnock moaning and a tweet is hysterical.

People may not rate him as a player, but they seem to have decided that and then want to dig the attitude of a bloke whos biggest crime is irritating one of the most irritating men in football.

If he comes are you expecting him to be a starter for a CL side then? Fact is we all know Conte well enough by now, if there is an issue with him in training he'll be bombed out as quick as a flash and then what? AC does not accept players that sulk and won't toe his very strict line, is he really that good that it makes this a risk worth taking?
