That’s one hell of a name. When I was a kid, I’d sign players on championship manager on their name alone. Luis Quinnonez, Tommy Svindal Larsen, Tonton Zola Moukoukou.

On that basis alone, I say sign him.

As good as Nahuel Molina has been and is, when I’ve watched Udinese, it’s been Udogie who’s impressed me more for his dynamism and top athleticism. And yes I know they play opposite sides. Obviously have no clue if he’ll sign, and even though I’m a huge fan, I don’t like the idea of Perisic at RWB. I’m sure he could do just fine there, but he has literally become the best specialist LWB in the world. No reason to mess with anything. I’ll bow to Conte’s plan, though, whatever it is. And if it involves Perisic at RWB then I’ll support it. Udogie is too good for a buy and loan as well. Not a Gil or Sarr type in my eyes (although that doesn’t matter). I’d expect big things from him after he settles, the talent is huge.

Instead of Perisic do you think Udogie could potentially be converted to a RWB instead?

Could he be playing there because they already have Molina at RWB?

He did score a fantastic goal with his right foot against Salernitana. But been exclusively a left sided player. In addition I’m as much worried about placing another body in front of Sessegnon as I am Perisic swapping sides. I’ll never be against signing a fantastic player though, which Udogie is. To answer your question, he probably could, as he does use his right foot well. Just has spent virtually no time on the right in his career, so would be new for everyone. Who knows how he’d react to having to play at different angles and in different spaces.

Seems an odd one, maybe one for the future?

Sign him, loan him to Inter they give us Bastoni. Easy.

Seems very strange then.

I'm all for us signing exciting young players however.

I did completely ignore the angle of him simply being of interest long term. Perisic is only on a two year deal, and he could just be one we’re keeping an eye on for the future, in which case a buy + loan could make sense, or just keep tabs on him and make sure we’re always aware of his situation. As Di Marzio doesn’t specify if we’re interested in a move this summer or just in general.

To fuck with Inter?
Or an alternative perspective - and I’m playing Devil’s Advocate here - could be that we’re trying to help Inter…?

They sell us Bastoni, we buy Udogie and loan him out to them for a low fee with a fixed-price option at the end of the loan; we get the player we want, and they get a player they want without having to pay for him for a year or two.

I know I made a crack in Bastoni’s thread about ‘mental gymnastics’, but that’s not what I’m doing here - just offering a different take.

Personally, I hope we sign him to rotate with Perisić with a view to developing him into his long-term replacement in two years’ time. ?

The way he runs reminds me of Danny Rose for some reason. Maybe it’s because he looks strong. Either way he looks like an absolute talent that coaches could work with. Looks impressive.
