He's the only winger at the club and the only player who can play rwf, if we don't sign him it leaves us even more work to do.

I like Kulu and will be a bit gutted if we don't get him but let's face it, none of us know how Ange is wanting to set up or what he wants in his squad.
Maybe he'd rather spend that 35m on other players.

There's so much that's up in the air at the moment, this really is one window that we shouldn't be too quick to jump to conclusions.

Would I keep him? Yes I would.
Does Ange think he's the best use of 35m? Fuck knows!

To me - that's not the issue here.

If Ange does not want him - fair play. Tell the player and Juve, and move on.

If Ange does want him - fair play. Sign him at the agreed upon option.

Negotiating for a lower price than the option just feels like the actions of a small-time club. Its also not the best way to build relationships in the relatively small world of global football.

No, and I totally agree, I was saying as much in the front page thread on this.
It's just another narrative that we're difficult twats to deal with, constantly trying to change things in our favour.

I'm just trying to find another angle on this, probably to make it make sense!

We've lost Moura and Danjuma left after his loan. We may keep Gil but Kulusevski is far better suited to the league. We're not getting anyone as cheap and good as him. We also still need one more attacker or 2 if we don't stick with Gil (unless we keep Perisic for wide left forward). Either way not signing him gives us a lot more work to do.

Make sense? C'mon you've surely been a spurs long enough to know sense never factors into anything we do!

Whatever the truth is, back the sodding manager. Fully this time. The club hired him. If they don't trust his judgment they shouldn't have hired him.

This all feels pretty classic Levy - we suspect (maybe via FP we even have a little inside intel) that Juve are in a bit of a tight spot and we are hoping they’ll cave and give us a discount of a few million pounds so they don’t have to try offloading yet another surplus player this summer. I think we’d always trigger the option when it comes down to it but we want to make it feel like we’re uncertain so our bluff doesn’t get called. If it works and we get an extra 3-5m to get Raya or Maddison over the line then he’ll consider it a master stroke. Will it make Juve never want to deal fairly with us? Maybe, but Levy’s never put any value on that sort of thing.

Shock, whole load of panick for nada, I’m sure we knew Juve were willing to negotiate before we rocked up to the talks.
Yep. You get a feel for where a negotiation is going early on. It's normal to try and get some anchoring in place.
