He definitely isn't- he was drinking a beer on the pitch after the Ajax game:

Also for the people saying we should just have sold him- despite the fact that he can be a bit of a prick and isn't the player he once was, he is under contract and has every right to see that contract out. He is under no obligation to accept a transfer he doesn't want, no matter what the club or the fans want. Football fans often seem to forget that contracts are there to protect the players as much as the clubs.
He has spoken frequently about his dad’s drinking and how he decided never to follow that path. I don’t know what he’s holding in his hand there, but I’d be surprised if he drank it, if it’s beer.

Prepare to be surprised...

It's a bottle of Heineken, and he definitely drank it-

Out of character, then. As a confirmed pisshead myself, I don’t know what the rules are for tee-totalism. Maybe he’s allowed one as long as he agonises over the next week?

It was against Real at the Bernabeu.
Context is key here. He would often come on as CM to add a bit of energy and tenacity in midfield, but only for like 5-10 mins, and he did fine. Normally it was because of injury. So against Real Madrid we had no central midfielders on the bench, nada. He came on for an attacker, I assume, to give us a little bit more control. It’s not clear he actually played cm but it wouldn’t surprise me. I can’t remember if it worked, but we got a draw out of it. He played 10 mins.

Later Poch flirted more with the idea, and as a manager he has always been flexible with peoples position, attributes being what he looks at not your supposed position. I mean Davidson Sanchez also got minutes as a CM and very poorly as a LB. but he was successful in pushing dele further forward and Dier in CM (before his injury) for instance.

But back to Rose, the time he was most used in CM was during the time of our CL run and he was used there, largely from the bench, because we had a major injury crisis in central midfield during that time. People forget but Man City away our midfield was wanyama and Dele Alli, we had very low numbers thus he used Rose on occasion in that position. I don’t think he was ever exposed there.

So yes he played him there but it’s not like he was converting him into a CM or Something.

In the context of a youth game him playing CM makes perfect sense the aim is to provide a platform to develop players, Harry Kane played a lot of his youth games playing as a left winger btw, it’s normal to see lots of rotation of positions for all kinds of reasons. If rose is playing btw it suggests he is doing something right, that he might even be a beneficial figure in that set up.

He complained in an interview (while on loan at Newcastle) about Poch not allowing them to drink on the flight home after the Ajax game?

EDIT: Here's the article (also moaned about not getting enough rest days - he likes to moan haha!).

I’ve got a feeling he will see out his contract with us then retire. The love of the game seems to have left him.

How long til his contract is out?
Got to get him off the wage bill, and maybe get a few quid aswell.

Runs out this summer. I'm sure we've tried to shift him until now but he probably just wants to see out his final few months with us.

We won't be saving a penny on him. He's here to the bitter end, after that I couldn't GAF what he does or where he goes sorry.
