Should've had a penalty in the 90th min...

Guaranteed the defender at the end of the clip got a free kick for just falling over. Ref was lazy and had bad positioning. Even so it was quite apparent he got kicked in the head. Very poor.

Sounds similar to Parrott last season in that he's playing well but just needs to get off the mark.

Hope the goal opens up for him soon.

Heading down to FP tomorrow evening, hopefully Dane will get a few minutes and get off the mark. I shall be keeping a close eye on how he gets on

They won 4-1, he didn't score, but the crowd really appreciated what he added apparently
Yes, that is a good way of summing it up. Dane had 62 mins before being substituted at 1-1. Danny Cowley has stated he has squad depth and with the 5 subs the 3 main strikers, Bishop, Piggott and Scarlett, will rotate. Bishop is scoring, the other 2 not.

I was impressed with the glimpses that Scarlett offered. He lacked service but at that point in the game he was the brighter part of a fairly poor performance from Pompey. A couple of runs, good touches and link play but no real chances. He resisted the attempts to rattle him too. The substitutions changed the shape and it helped turn the game.

He came off on the far side from the dugouts and took 5 mins going round getting high fives and a rendition of "Super Dane Scarlett"

I think they were 2-1 up when he came off. He came off just after the second goal. They started badly went 1-0 down in first half but the manager gave them a talking to when the game was stopped for an injury to one of their players. They came to life after that I hope they get promoted this year.

From AliG’s roundup:

The 18-year-old striker grabbed his first assist in the Football League during Portsmouth's 3-1 victory against Bristol Rovers in League One on Saturday.

Scarlett, who came off the bench for the final 26 minutes of the game and, after picking up an 88th-minute yellow card, got down the right in added time and delivered a pinpoint cross for Owen Dale to head home.

That earned him plenty of praise from the goalscorer for his selflessness on the day.

"I think that Dane was well within his rights to have a shot in that situation because he's a great finisher," said Dale. "We had a little bit of eye contact, and he's put the ball in with a brilliant cross – he put it on a plate for me. He gave me the whole goal to head it into, and it's certainly a moment that I'm never going to forget."

Scarlett has now played six matches for Portsmouth, and manager Danny Cowley is excited about what the teenager has already been showing.

"I think Dane, against the ball, is 'wow'. For an 18-year-old, his understanding of how to defend from the front, and the speed and aggression that he can go and press the ball, is like he's got the eye of the tiger," the Pompey boss is quoted as saying in The Portsmouth News. "He's got this ruthless streak to his game, both against the ball – how quickly he gets up to it – but also then his movement and his reactive quality. In training, he's looked really exciting, and it's lovely from our perspective. We're so privileged to be able to wake up every morning and be able to come in and watch such a young talent grow and develop."

nice quote from the manager there. the goal has more than a sniff of offside to it, but great to see Dane play well.

Glad to hear he's doing well and the fans love him, I think when he gets a couple goals it'll really help to push him on further and he'll end up getting quite a few.
