This may be an unpopular opinion, but I don’t think Eriksen is good enough for Real Madrid.

Don’t get me wrong, he’s an absolutely fabulous player, but he does have his limitations and does have a tendency to go missing in games, and I think the Real fans will eat him alive.

I would challenge you to name 5 better playmakers in the world.

I’d counter that by asking if you think Eriksen is of greater quality than what they already have in Isco, potentially Asensio etc. Eriksen is undoubtedly a top player, I do think we have an over inflated sense of his abilities though.

I just don’t see him fitting in, and doubt he’d do any better out there than Isco. If I was Real and wanted him, I’d wait a year and get him for next to nothing.

I think he’d be an excellent modric successor but I think they are 18 months away from needing him. Thing is now is the time or he’ll sign a new contract.
@Tucker - I see your reasoned point but can you think of a better candidate to replace Modric?

I’d also add David Silva to that list.
Two of those play forward, and the other two are on the wrong side of 30. Its pretty widely agreed that Eriksen is a better player than Isco or Asensio.

Not to mention Modric has fallen off a cliff this season.

Playmakers are not just CDM/CM/CAM's.

Doesn't say they're not interested, just not for that price. Until they sign somebody else in that position, Eriksen will just try to run down his contract.
Exactly and this could just be Madrid trying to motivate Eriksen into spitting his dummy out so that levy is forced to accept a lower fee. They will 100% still be keen.

They can just whatsapp Eriksen telling him to not sign a new contact and we’ll take you on a free. If they want him and he wants to join them then Madrid will decide how much they’re happy to pay. We will be forced to accept it otherwise we get nothing, no matter how much we pointlessly give an asking price we have no power here after letting his contract run down this much.

^^This^^ I think Eriksen is fucking ace when he's on his game and we are lucky to have him but he isn't quite in their class. If he was we'd have been batting off offers every summer.
With that logic that means Toby isn't a top tier CB, or Kane a striker, or Dele, Son, Jan, Rose, etc.

Have you watched Madrid this season? He’d walk into that team and make them far better than they are currently. What players don’t have limitations or a tendency to have off days? There’s barely any who are unreal every single game.

I wonder if we’re going to get the narrative that he’s great but he goes missing a lot and we’ll be fine. Like when Walker left I said he was irreplaceable and that’s turned out to be true so far. Eriksen is far, far more irreplaceable than him and we will absolutely be a worse side next season if we sell him. It’s not throw yourself off a cliff oh my god we’re gonna get relegated but selling him is a disaster in my opinion no matter how you look at it.

That’s fine wasn’t entirely aimed at you, just keep seeing a few negative things recently that feel familiar. To answer your question you asked to another poster yes Eriksen is without doubt better than both Isco and Asensio.
He is the heartbeat of our team, when he plays well we play well. He’d go into that Madrid side and do the same, he is undoubtably world class in my opinion.

Cant believe that this beauty has become a bit of a millstone around our necks of late. I just get tons of stick from my mates about Spurs being homeless pikeys. I know its just jealousy, as this will eventually propel us to compete, but dont need the extra pressure what with the stuff going on pitch side.
With that logic that means Toby isn't a top tier CB, or Kane a striker, or Dele, Son, Jan, Rose, etc.

No one is bidding for Kane at this point because they know its pointless, I'll be amazed if they haven't tried to see if his head could be turned though and if and when he is up for a move they will swoop. Dele is still a kid and we will face that problem in 2 or 3 years if he keeps progressing, Toby only showed himself to be top top class in the last 3 seasons when he teamed up with Jan, Jan the same since Toby arrived. Before neither were first choice CB for Belgium. Rose was looking like he might be going around when Walker left but then got injured and hasn't regained that form. Sonny, I'm sure a lot of clubs would love to sign him but he isn't top top tier that might have Barca, Madrid of PSG come knocking. There is also the fact English clubs know they will have to pay us top top dollar to sign our top players and that only leaves a handful of foreign teams that can afford/will turn our players heads.

I'm not knocking any of our players and I think Eriksen is class but for me he just falls short of the likes of Modric. Would you take Modric in his prime or Eriksen now? Eriksen is fantastic but Modric was probably the best in the world in his position. De Bruyne when fully fit is the best at his position for me.

That Madrid squad isn't what it was 2 years ago. I'm not sure what is going on there, maybe finances are finally catching up but they don't see to be able afford to spend £100-150m every year on Galactico signings. What I'm saying is I'm not sure they can afford say a De Jong and Eriksen this year. Yeah I know De Jong has gone to Barca but you get my point.

If we lose Eriksen it will hurt us so badly if we don't have the next Eriksen lined up to replace him, even then it will hurt us. He makes our attack tick.

Which is why, *IF* we lose him, we have to make sure we get one of Madrid's playmakers in the deal. Isco, James, Asensio, I don't care which one. Just make sure we get one.
