In a perfect world, we’d be signing Johnson AND Kolo Muani. Apparently PSG are bidding around £68.5m for him..

Dream World scenario, sadly I think.

Yeah but they're also selling Hugo Ekitike to Frankfurt below market value supposedly, so in reality the transfer will be more than what's stated, if that does transpire.
Muani does look really good on YouTube, but when they played us in the CL he didn't look all that tbh. Very small sample size.

I don’t know much about him and haven’t seen him, but let’s get behind him.

Seems to have a good attitude and he’ll be hungry to do well.

8 goals and 3 assists for Forest last season, if he could get 12 goals and 6 assists for us would that be good?

What's that got to do with anything? We sold him for a somewhat large fee and so far we've replaced his quality up top with Solomon and what looks to be Brennan Johnson. How can anyone actually be happy with that? What's the point of Levy haggling with Bayern for ages so that we could get the best deal possible to then not buy a high quality forward? That's my issue.
I think it needs to be considered more holistically.

Have we improved as a side? Would it be better to have directly replaced him, even if the first XI wasn’t as good as it could have been with multiple cheaper replacements?

Im OK with how we’re going about it. It’s possible that the time to more directly replace him ie a new CF will be next summer

New Athletic.article on him covering why forest are considering selling him
Thanks for that, very interesting article. Seems like there is quite a significant difference in timing between how things are actually playing out and the reports in the press. No surprise there. Here it suggest we tried for a partial swap a while ago but they are pretty clear they just want cash. Also suggest Brentford might actually not have moved on. Ether way it sounds like this is another deal that will go down to the wire.

Whilst I’m somewhat on the fence about Johnson as a player he does sound like a good lad and seemingly has a good mentality. That’s extremely encouraging and imperative for a player who might be playing more of a versatile depth role.

Yeah it’s pretty good. They want cash only by the sounds of things and at this point in the window.

If Brentford have been chasing him for three years then there must be something about him they feel very strongly about given their way of recruiting. That makes him super intriguing.

What I’m curious is how this lines up with Trix’s ITK last night. He mentions that a deal including deadwood makes this an extremely appealing deal but that article, as you point out, suggests Forrest just want money. Be interesting to see if we like him enough to pay £50 mil for him as he doesn’t necessarily seem to be our top WF target purely on a skill basis.

Ether way even if Forrest change their minds it doesn’t sound like Sanchez is going to be of interest to them after getting Murillo.

I was just reading about Johnson from forest fans point of view.
Seems they do love and are proud of what he’s achieved, they still feel he’s raw and actually think they he may not suit the new system their manager wants to play so could be better without him.
They are genuinely sad to see him go, I guess it’s like a Kane esc situation for him

If we were so concerned about HG players, why did we (a) sell Kane, knowing we wouldn't be able to get in a quality non-HG replacement; and (b) buy Solomon, a non-HG player, to be our 5th choice winger?

The itk literally said its future planning. Kane wouldn't be here next summer regardless.
