Agreed. He has 11 goals in a season for a team almost relegated. Richarlison’s high is 14. Not trying to put him down, but 40 mil for a 22 year old who is already producing in the league is a good buy. He also fits Ange’s system well from my observations

Especially given a reported £80m valuation from Brentford for a 28 year old Ivan Toney.

I’m guessing you were dancing of joy when we signed Solomon, with him scoring home and away against Real Madrid in the Champions League.
No not really. Didn’t know anything about him. If we sign Johnson I’ll support him.
But you do make the point for me that scoring in the CL vs Madrid is more impressive than scoring against Everton.

I saw another poster mention he was the young player of the year a few seasons back so I dug up the list of past winners. We've obviously been linked/signed quite a few - but generally (all depends on the fee) it looks like going for the winner has panned out well.

2023 Championship Young Player of the Season - Alex Scott (linked) - Also worth noting Ashley Phillips won apprentice of the season!
2022 Championship Young Player of the Season - Brennan Johnson (linked) - valued at around 40m, pretty successful start to top flight career
2021 EFL Young Player of the Year - Michael Olise - many on here would take him
2020 EFL Young Player of the Year - Jude Bellingham - no context needed
2019 EFL Young Player of the Year - Max Aarons - up and down with Norwich, probably on the fence if he's been successful
2018 EFL Young Player of the Year - Sess - sadly injuries have hampered his development, meh
2017 EFL Young Player of the Year - Ollie Watkins - Many on here would probably take him

Not that there is direct correlation, but it is interesting to see and thought I would share

I've never seen him play and know nothing about him. I flipped my coin which has told me he's not at the level we require and he's poor value.
I've never seen him play or know anything about him, but MY coin flip has told me he is the heir apparent to Gareth Bale.

So, let's argue endlessly about who is right and who is wrong to win the Internet crown for most knowledgable football fan (North London division: current holder - SA Gunner)

I remember Hudson odoi bring incredible when we was younger. Not sure why he's fallen off so much but I'd be tempted for us, he's the right profile

He ruptured his Achilles and was out for a long time and hasn’t been the same since he returned, there was a few interviews around that time when he said the injury was so bad he feared his career was over

But weren’t Chelsea interested in Breedon Johnson? You would have thought there could have been a deal to be stuck between Chelsea and Forest.
Think they are keen on Bradley barcola for their RWF option number 3

Bit much but I suppose if he is in to it it's not illegal 🤔 :cautious:

Such a shame for him, he's the poster boy about what selling your soul to Chelsea when you're young can do for you. There were a number of German clubs who wanted him off the back of the Sancho success and Chelsea didn't want to play him because they were changing managers every 5 mins but didn't want to sell in case he came good on a loan.
Football, well paid, purgatory.

Surely if we offered £40m Chelsea would just offer more. I guess it depends on if Johnson thinks he will become anonymous like most do at Chelsea.

He was done before then. He got given an absolutely ridiculous contract by Chelsea and it went to his head. As soon as he got that he put his slippers on.
